Serious dose of imposter syndrome

Before I go on I know this isn't that big a problem in the grand scheme of things and I'm in a privileged position but I was hoping someone could give me some advice or relate.

I've just been offered a promotion after being at my job for a year. The promotion will be a few levels above where I am now and come with some great benefits.

I know I would be stupid not to take it but I can't help but worry that I'm kidding myself and will fall on my face. It's a male dominated environment and it'll definitely be more of a challenge.

I also worry that other people that have been there longer than me will resent me for taking the job.

Has anyone else ever felt like this or am I being totally stupid?

Hang on though- they've offered you the promotion based on their actual experience of you? And they've chosen you, as a woman, in a male dominated environment. That means they think you're great surely! So go for it!
It's not like you over egged your achievements in an interview and got the job through winging it- they've seen you in action and think you can do it. That should give you huge amounts of confidence (I appreciate its not that easy!)

Have a look at nadine dories on GMB….there’s a woman who ought to have imposter syndrome…

You’ll be fine. Don’t pretend to know stuff…let your team shine.
