Help - I peed my pants!

Really wasn't sure where to post this and name changed, because I'm mortified, but also need to know if this is a normal bodily response!?!

So, I was playing about with my DD's hammock...as you do. Just sat on it swinging approx 4ft off of the floor.

Then my lardy arse broke one of the hooks it was hanging on and I landed on aforementioned lardy arse and my elbow.

Cue a lot of laughter from myself and DD and a sore arse/elbow. Pick myself up and dust myself off and carry on...

About five minutes later, I notice the spot where I hit the ground was wet and sure enough I've gone and peed myself. Not a little...quite a lot...and somehow didn't notice!

I'm early 30s and other than the rare dribble if I've held it in all day and just reached a toilet, nothing like this has ever happened before. Currently running myself a bath and feeling a bit sorry for myself.

So, please, tell me...have you ever fallen and peed yourself? Is that normal or not really?

Hammock is going in the bin, I think!

TIA

Sounds a little worrying. Good luck xx

Chichimcgee · 05/02/2022 17:13

Are you sure you didn’t bang your head as well? People sometimes do release their bladder if they get knocked on the head and I’d assume a previous nerve injury might cause similar? Definitely not normal though.

toomanychickens · 05/02/2022 17:16

I've had back pain this week, after hurting it last week, and a tingling feeling in my leg - still have that. GP warned me to look out for loss of bladder control or reduced feeling in that area as it could be a serious issue. If you already have history of problems in that area I'd get it checked out.

Susu49 · 05/02/2022 17:38

Op given that you have an old nerve injury you're doing the right thing to get it checked out. Good luck!

irregularegular · 05/02/2022 17:42

Yes. If I fall or slip suddenly I am likely to wet myself. I can't trampoline unless I have an empty bladder. If I am going to sneeze I stop walking and brace myself. And if I have a bad cough for a long time then my pelvic floor eventually gives up....

I'm 50 and have had a bit of a problem since kids but it has got worse.

I don't want to alarm you OP, but you really need to get medical attention to rule out Cauda Equina syndrome.

PrettyPissyPants · 05/02/2022 20:22

Just to update.

Was quite worried as I had pins and needles in both legs for a while there, but thankfully seems to be easing up. Hoping I just stunned the nerves, rather than redamaged them.

Spoke to a doctor over the phone and was advised to come into A&E, but as there is noone who can watch DD tonight I'll have to leave it tonight and hope things have improved by morning.

However, if I end up wetting myself again or pins and needles get worse, will go in tonight.

Interesting you chose porn/fetish genre for your username OP, get well soon, must be awful.

kittensinthekitchen · 05/02/2022 20:39

You said in your OP that you've never experienced anything like this before.
Then go on to say "Oh yeah, except I had an injury a while back which caused incontinence".

Which is it?

PrettyPissyPants · 05/02/2022 20:41

Honestly, I was in quite a bit of pain and panicking...wanted to change my username before posting and didn't give it any thought.

I'm a single mum to DD with SEN and was just reaching out, as I was worried/am worried I've done some serious damage...

Hopefully, like the 111 doctor said, I've just temporarily stunned the nerves and not completely re-injured them. If it wasn't for lack of childcare for DD, I would be following the doctor's advice and be getting checked over now, but as it is, I can't and hoping the sensation continues to come back.

Signing off now, as upset about the whole situation and some of the comments haven't helped.

I had water tablets once never again too many leaks happened so embarrassing I told doctor I’d stopped taking them and why. I’ve never had them since.

Apologies. Didn't realise I was under interrogation!

In my panic, it slipped my mind that yes, I had some nerve damage (after falling from a much greater height) back in 2016. Ended up in Kings with that, but fortunately recovered as few months later. As it was six years ago, it wasn't at the forefront of my mind.

Actually signing off now...

OP, can you arrange childcare for your DD and go in? Loss of perineal sensation and pins and needles and urinary incontinence can be very serious

Cigfree · 05/02/2022 21:09

Good luck OP, I hope everything is okay. I’ve had a similar issue in the past and it’s not nice. Ignore the horrible twats on here - MN seems to have an inordinate amount of them at the moment.

PinotPony · 05/02/2022 21:14

Please go to A&E. Loss of sensation or parasthesia can be a sign of cauda equina injury which is time critical.

justasking111 · 12/02/2022 16:43

@PrettyPissyPants how are you feeling?

123456rose123456 · 21/02/2022 18:03

Done it a few times where I'll have a little wee without noticing, never much though
