What do I buy my 5yo daughter for her birthday?!

I really need ideas please. She's the youngest of three, tiny room with absolutely no space left in it. We have all the normal "toys" we have board games, we have dressing up stuff, we have make up and nail polish. We have crafting stuff coming out of our ears. We have garden toys. She has a device.

What the heck do I get her?

A dressing/make up table?

Isonthecase · 04/02/2022 22:51

Some pretty biscuits or chocolates?
A yoto player with family reading her stories on it?
A personalised photo jigsaw?

A musical jewellery box? My 5 year old asked for one and she loves playing the tune and watching the ballerina dance

My just turned 5 year old had a Tonie for Christmas and it is a favourite in our house, you buy the characters and it reads stories and sings the songs from films etc. she asked for more tonies for her birthday. Perfect as she’s youngest of 4 and has a lot of big items handed down.

TheLoupGarou · 04/02/2022 22:55

My dd really wants some slime apparently. It's her birthday in March (she will be 6). Books? More Crafting stuff? She also likes little plastic shite items like LOL dolls and Shopkins, squishmallows etc. At Xmas she got a new scooter, which she loves. Roller skates? A bike?

TheLoupGarou · 04/02/2022 22:56

dd has specifically asked for a dressing table, but not sure there's room in her bedroom.

What about an experience? A show and lunch out or a trip a theme park. On a smaller scale get your nails done and coffee and cake together or a pottery cafe.

Grantingmum · 04/02/2022 23:01

Bike
Scooter
Kite
Roller skates
Keyboard
....just throwing a few ideas out there!

Toseethezoo · 04/02/2022 23:02

The Tonie is a great shout. It’s expensive, but I wouldn’t be without it (my ds is 5).

Look at the Yoto, too, as an alternative.

DockOTheBay · 04/02/2022 23:07

Yoto player - also saves the same issue in future as you can get her cards, accessories etc.

An experience e.g. theater trip, zoo trip

An annual pass to a local attraction

Galt science kits are great or make your own soap / lipbalm kits. Both of these obviously get used up so then you're not stuck with more stuff. Sylvanian families (nice and small). Lego friends. Books. Stickers. Djeco tattoos. Paint your own birdhouse/feeder kit/wild bird feed. A really small cuddly toy. New clothes. Flower press. Bug house.

BelgianWaffles · 04/02/2022 23:13

Polly pocket - nice and small!

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/02/2022 23:16

Took ours to a theme park (first time) with a school friend and grandma at 6, stayed in a cottage for the weekend and had a grown up dinner in a Chinese restaurant. Both girls chose a gift from the gift shop. She loved it.

Glow in the dark stars for her bedroom ceiling
Space hopper
Butterfly garden
Some accessories for another toy (dolls clothes, bike bell, etc)
Activity place mats (colour in etc while sitting at the table)
Gymnastic ribbon
Chalk or chalk pens

Trying to think of some 'experiences' you could do, then just get a small toy (like a barbie or something she really wants?)

  • Girly day out - toenails painted in a nail salon, buy a new outfit, out for lunch/somewhere with fabulous cake/ice cream/those ridiculous milkshakes with sweets stuck all over them?
  • Theatre tickets and similar food treat as above?
  • Ears pierced? (I know, MN hates ears pierced on children less than 19 years old...)
  • Special day out with a best friend - trampoline park / other similar activity etc?
  • My daughter (same age) keeps asking for a 'yes day' for her next b'day - where you have to say yes to everything. You could have a special day of just you and her - especially if she has older siblings - where she gets to pick (for example) an activity / a meal / something to buy? Eg my daughter would probably choose buying a hideous plastic toy like an LOL or similar tat with tiny plastic accessories for me to step on, getting her nails painted in a 'real' salon and then near us is a 'unicorn' cafe with toasties with rainbow cheese and those big milkshakes... something like that? You could make vouchers for something similar, to suit her interests, plus one toy to open on her birthday morning?

We've enjoyed some beautiful hardback books that play snippets of classical music, like the Nutcracker or the Four Seasons. Search for The Story Orchestra.

At that sort of age I bought Gdcs a V-tech camera with case. Went down very well with both girl and boy.

MotherWol · 05/02/2022 07:57

I’ve got DD a Yoto Mini for her 6th, along with some cards and a case. Figure I can suggest cards to family members who ask for gift suggestions. We do a lot of long car journeys and I wanted a screen-free option to keep her entertained on the move. I have a referral code for 10% discount, DM me if you’d like it!

Appleseesaw · 05/02/2022 08:05

Smart Games. You can get some very small ones and they are really good.
