C section question

Wondering if anyone can answer a question that has been bothering me for ten years now, I have tried to find out for myself before but ended up reading lots more birth trauma which was the opposite of what I needed

I was told years ago on a thread discussing sections that it’s standard practice to sew everything back together in one and I thought it seemed impossible but people were claiming to work in operating theatres and see it several times a week

It bothered me ether since, the thought of my womb trying to shrink back into shape while sewn to the inside of my stomach.

Surely it can’t be true?

I would have thought each layer would be sewn up separately. I'm probably wrong Blush

Sewn in layers. So uterus is stitched, then the next layer sewn separately.
Skin is final layer. Then dressing put on.

The sewing bit takes quite a while, so I can’t imagine it all gets sewn together? I’ve had two. The sewing bit was about 30 minutes.

I don't think this is true. When I had mine my physio told me there are at least 5 layers of stitches. I've since read there are 7. Not exactly sure but I am sure they stitch you back up in layers.

Def sewn in several layers. Ive had 3 now (and watched several YouTube videos of it cos I’m weird like that!)

I guess they were probably exaggerating based on some layers being sewn together that shouldn’t maybe

I don’t know how stitches and a rapidly shrinking womb work at all

I can say that I had disolvable stitches. They were absolutely fine and luckily I had no problems. I've heard many horror stories from people who had staples. I would absolutely avoid at all costs!

C-section closure is pretty much quilting and all the layers are sewn separately.

I've had three - two closed with a bead and string, one closed with glue. I much preferred the glue as it didn't go tight like the bead/string did. With one of my sections I had something irritating poking out of one end of the incision, it was a piece of dissolving stitches from the layer underneath that had worked its way to the surface. The MW was coming to do my ten day check that day so she pulled it free with tweezers.
