Stressed about price rises

Since all the news about rising food and fuel prices I've been feeling anxious.

Not sure how we're going to cope. We only have a flat to heat as well.

Wondered if anyone else was worried as well and how you cope with it.

Very worried. What with fuel price rises, NI increase and interest rate rises (we have a tracker mortgage) and general cost of living increases we’re going to struggle. I’m looking for a second job.

Yep I'm very worried. I think we have got to get used to using less energy and eating less. My mate works for British Gas.
He rang me last night and said he had spoken to so many desperate people yesterday.

I think our mealtimes will change, possibly beans on toast or egg and home made chips for dinner, plus cheaper meat meals like spag bol or shepherds pie, frozen veg rather than fresh. I think the food banks are going to be in massive demand soon.

It's going to be like the 1970s, cold with crap food Sad

Very worrying.

Barely have my heating on as it is! Yesterday I used £1.56 and turned it off panicking. Like seriously it's getting out of control.
The government can sod their £200 loan.

ChittyBangs · 04/02/2022 18:18

Yep! No idea what we're going to do tbh.

FourTeaFallOut · 04/02/2022 18:57

Yeah. We can absorb the increases with some changes to our non essentials so I'm not worried that we'll struggle any time soon.

But all this - crossing of fingers and hoping that inflation will somehow correct itself quickly - from Andrew Bailey and Rishi is giving me the heebie-jeebies.

Are you entitled to any benefits/ are there any you aren't claiming? Have a look here:

I'm not sure what criteria is being applied, but a lot of Citizens Advice were given money to help clients with fuel bills. The money came via local authorities from Central government (and was probably reported in your local press in October/November)

A local firm generously gave the food bank lots of slow-cookers.

It's going to be a tough few months +
