Does anyone live near Queen Sq WC1 or know NHNN?

Hi
My 83 yr old mum's had a stroke and was rushed to NHNN early this morning. I had to ring for the ambulance but I live quite a way away. She's OK-ish but there's no visitors allowed (covid cases are high) and she'll hopefully only be in a few days.

I wondered if there were any MNers here who know the hospital and can tell me happy tales about the care there! Or who live nearby and might be able to deliver a note/card to reception that would get to her to let her know I'm thinking about her. (She has an un-smart phone but it's switched off at the moment and she struggles to read text messages anyway!!)

Trying hard not to worry, I talked to her briefly when the doc called, and I know she's being well cared for but it's a bit of a shock as she's generally pretty healthy and strong. I think I need gin Gin

Thanks all

Hi op so sorry to hear about your mum. I have been under nhnn for 8 years had many stays and surgery’s there I can tell you the care I’ve received is second to none. The hospital is tiny there are I think 4 general wards and then 2 sort of specialist wards if my memory’s correct. As it’s so small everyone gets to know you very quickly. There’s a private ward as well that uses the same surgeons and consultants that take care of the rest of the hospital.

I also live in the same postcode but at the moment my ds is unwell over the next couple of days I will come back to this thread as soon I can possibly get out as I’m only a 10 min walk away.

Hoping your mum makes a swift recovery op Flowers

So sorry she and you are going through this, but as another long term NHNN patient, I'd like to reassure you that it's an excellent hospital. (Have been in ones that aren't)
It's a specialist hospital and has earned its reputation.
My experiences have been repeated good care, and high standards.
She's had luck on her side to have been taken there, If it had to happen to her, she couldn't have ended up in a much better place. Flowers

Thank you so much for your reassurances! We are so so thankful for the NHS having these incredible resources and yes I am very glad she happened to have been in London (she lives in an area not blessed with great facilities).

I talked to her last night and she was much more coherent and just coming round to the fact that she'd been pretty unwell. They want to transfer her to another hospital for rehab so I've requested she come to my local (very good) hospital so I can help look after her. So that will probably happen early this coming week.
