Stolen phone

My phone was stolen the other day, along with my bank cards -- massive pain in the arse and I wish the thief may step on Lego in bare feet every day for the rest of his life.

Still sorting out all the loose ends, just got a new phone and could access my Apple account again, so now on the Find My Phone page can see that my stolen phone was at a certain address on Monday night (I assume when the battery ran out).

I have reported the theft and there is CCTV (happened at work) but will the police be interested in knowing where my precious phone was on Monday night? I'm guessing not and it's time to Let It Go etc etc

But it's so fucking annoying and I can't help reliving the whole thing 😫

Yes I would tell them, its theft and it could be the person who stole it or passed it on.

They wont care, they would have asked for your IME number when it was stolen. They had zero interest in where it suggest my DD phone was on my find my phone. They had CCTV footage of the person who stole my DD and a witness who knew who he was. Zilch and heard nothing.

I did make sure I bloked it so noone could make use of the phone

The police are spectacularly lazy in pursuing a Find My Phone enquiry. It’s too late ( they will tell you) and too many reasons why your phone may show up at another address.

Have you got a new number? Post ads with the old number on

It's not they're too lazy as pp suggested but legally it's not much use. Find my phone apps aren't always accurate for one thing - mine always shows at next door rather than my house for example. The other thing is if they do go to a house and speak to someone if the person says they don't know anything about it, what then? They can't go in and search and there's no way in hell they'll get a warrant approved.

Frustrating though it is it's not enough evidence

Yeah I appreciate that it's not much help for something of relatively low importance, that's why I'm hesitating to add to the crime report

Also saw on my bank app that the thief tried to use one of my bank cards at a particular ATM. I mean it's good to know and I have passed on the info but will anything come of it?

If they were stolen at work and there's a possibility of it being a member of staff then you could report the address to HR in case it matches any staff records.

Thanks, good thinking but it was a member of the public who came in under false pretences. I spoke to them, it was a distraction and trickery thing 😑
