Anyone know Paris who can tell me if these holiday rentals are in a nice location?

Thanks in advance! Going to Paris for 5 days later in the year.

Opinions welcome on whether going in spring or summer is better.

We are looking at the following holiday lets and I need advice on whether they’re in a nice safe area and ideally not on a busy main road.

None of them show the exact road you ll be on so can't comment on the busy road point.

I would not choose the 3rd one. Montmartre/sacre coeur area is very close to the moulin rouge area which is a red light district

In August Paris empties of locals

Ha ha - I used to live in Montmartre, it's fine.

I think all of those would be fine. I didn't come
Across any places I wouldn't have been happy to stay in central Paris while I lived there. I would be more wary of the banlieus.

kalidasa · 03/02/2022 15:48

We live in Paris. Anywhere in central Paris should be fine, I don't think there are really any properly dodgy areas in the centre, it's not like london in that respect, and there are classic "Paris" things (cafes, bistros, nice local shops) basically everywhere. I would just work out what metro lines will be most convenient to be near if you are planning to do lots of sightseeing.

ChateauRouge · 03/02/2022 15:49

I also used to live in Montmartre, and no problems whatsoever!

stodgystollen · 03/02/2022 15:53

Canal St Martin is fine if a bit up and coming hipster. Montmarte/Batignolle ok but a bit more dodgy. Just to the north is dodgy and it leaks through, plus tourists=pickpockets

gogohm · 03/02/2022 15:57

As long as you don't book the holiday inn we stayed at, sandwiched between a sex shop and a strip club! (Thankfully didn't have our then young teens with us!)

Sparklydiplodocus · 03/02/2022 16:43

Thanks all!

Do we think Easter would be better than august for a trip?

Montmarte is probably one of the very best places to stay in Paris - if you do stay there then I really recommend doing the Sandeman's walking tour. You'll find out where all the famous artists lived and you'll see unforgettable sights that most tourists sadly miss.

Also pop to Coquelicot (24 rue des Abbesses) for breakfast - this café consistently wins awards for the best bread in Paris and locals queue for the baked goods because the quality is so excellent. The bowls of hot chocolate are worth waiting for too!

Hope you have an amazing holiday!

I would choose spring over August. August is still lovely in Paris although there are more tourists and fewer locals.
