... and were they any good? I have very fine hair which is now thinning 😳 Ivexread varying reviews that seem to suggest the products work if used altogether.

I tried it after losing some hair but it did nothing, and I found it quite drying.

rifling · 03/02/2022 07:35

Did nothing for me either.

Nor me.

Nor me. Very drying, and I was using the shampoo and conditioner. Seemed to leave my hair feeling almost brittle.

Would taking zinc and B vitamins help hair?

GalaPie · 03/02/2022 07:48

I've tried loads of products, they either leave my hair feeling like straw or like a concrete wig.
I've had success with taking a Biotin tablet every day. Takes a few weeks to kick in.

Wouldlovetobeinthesun · 04/02/2022 07:08

Thank you everyone. Doesn't sound like anybody has had success then. I'll keep searching!

I've not but can't imagine anything like that would do a great deal.

Re: thinning hair OP, if you haven't I'd request a blood count done from the GP with thyroid checked as it can be indicative of a deficiency or a thyroid problem. Worth clearing that up before spending money on topical products.

My hair thinned and shed a lot when I had an undiagnosed underactive thyroid and a significant b12 and folic acid deficiency, especially around the hairline. I now have b12 injections and take prescription folic acid as well as levothyroxine and it did improve after about 9 months of that.

Sadly I don't think it's related to anything other than the menopause.

I used it for peri menopause and like others found it really drying and it made no difference.

Verstappen · 06/02/2022 00:07

I'm peri and noticed thinning hair etc. A combination of two things has improved mine no end.
Firstly HRT. My hair was noticeably stronger and thicker within 3 months of starting the patches.

Secondly, and the one I feel stupid about. Changing how I washed it. I have pretty long hair and always shampoo all of it. I saw some guy on a video saying how many people washed their hair incorrectly and you should only use smaller amounts of shampoo on your scalp alone. When you rinse it then washes the lengths. Talk about revelation 😳
As I'm not now scrubbing at all of my hair I don't seem to lose as much. 48 years and I'm washing my hair wrong. Who knew.

mealdeal20 · 06/02/2022 00:11

May just be a personal thing to me but the two things that really worked where an iron supplement and sulphate free shampoos.

I'm 38 but maybe peri-menopause. My hairline had started to really thin around the front abs my scalp is now much less visible

pastaparadise · 06/02/2022 00:22

I have actually found plantur 39 good - 46 and peri menopause I think. Use it every 2 days and tonic on middle day if I remember, and definitely helped so thinning round my temples. Friend also said the same so worth a try

Intheopinionofourexpert · 06/02/2022 00:27

You haven't had covid have you OP? My hair came out in handfuls around 3 months after being ill. It's quite common. It's back to normal now.
