England town/city breaks good for kids

Unexpectedly we may be able to go away for a few nights in half term.

Where would you go? Not coastal as we've done a lot of that in the last two years and, obviously, it will be freezing.

@1winterblues, I really liked The Dinosaur Cafe. It's not fancy or formal, but really nice food. A small, family run type place. Also there are some great breakfast and brunch places. I liked The Boston Tea Party. I found the cathedral area a bit too chain-y for my liking, but some pubs and things nearby are lovely and quaint

We live in London and the cities we've taken our children to (three under 8) are:
Oxford
Bristol
Exeter
Edinburgh
and we're planning York.

All were great for kids and had plenty to do. Oxford is very easy from London too.

Bath is great and Longleat is driveable from there too with drive through safari and wildlife park.
