Does anyone use those cleaning tablets in re-usable glass bottles?

I keep getting served ads on FB and Insta for 'eco' products where you buy a glass bottle/spray and you add a tablet and water, instead of buying endless plastic bottles of cleaning products. I like the idea, but I've never actually heard of anyone using them and whether they're any good?

I fell for Koh a couple of years ago, but realised that the cleaning liquid is not great, but the cloths were fab!

My main issue is that we are in a v hard water area and the limescale is the thing that really needs something powerful. I suppose I could use eco everything else and just use the big guns for limescale.....?

Yes, I use the "ocean saver" ones where you just order the tablet/capsule and add it to any empty spray bottle you already have (glass are too heavy for me!) I've tried all of their range and they seem to work brilliantly. We live in a very hard water area too and most of the limescale is prevented through rinsing and wiping down well with a microfibre cloth/squeegee in the shower, or descaling appliances.

I do have a reserve bottle of Viakal in the cupboard for emergencies!

Best for limescale is white vinegar isn't it?
I buy 5l bottles to save on plastics
Also What is good about koh cloths?
how better different from e cloths?

I was thinking of emergency Viakal too! Grin

I found the Koh cloths great because they had that little scrubby but in the corner which was great around taps etc. other than that, they're yes just like regular microfibre cloths.

I actually haven't needed to use the emergency Viakal. But knowing it's there is a comforting psychological safety net.

I use ocean savers. They’re fab. You can buy on Amazon or in dunelm. I’m sure other places also stock them

I have recently started using Homethings.

There are three types of tabs that you put in a spray bottle and add water to: designed for bathrooms, glass and general purpose. I have also started using the dishwasher and laundry tabs.

I'm very pleased with all of them and have arranged a subscription for the dishwasher and laundry tabs (not the others as I still have lots of supplies of Method).

There is also a floor cleaner but I haven't tried that out yet.

I used smol. It smells nice and I like the reusable bottles/eco angle. However, I felt like it was no better than just cleaning with warm water. I didn't buy again.

This was my fear - I felt like I was just using nice water with Koh.

I've got ocean saver too, I liked them so much I have now subscribed so get some automatically sent to me every 6 weeks. They have great customer service too.

Another who uses & recommends Oceansaver.

Spaghettio · 01/02/2022 16:49

Looks like Oceansaver is the most popular here! I think I'll have a look at it - once I've used up my stash of current cleaners. Thanks all 😊

How does the ocean saver floor cleaner work? I usually just chuck some multi purpose cleaner in a bucket of hot water and can't see me spraying the floor before mopping

HasaDigaEebowai · 01/02/2022 20:55

Ocean savers come in little pods about the size of a dishwasher tablet. You just dilute with the stated amount of water in your own reused bottle and then use in the same way as any other product. It’s a massive saving in plastic and transportation costs.
