Talk me down please, I looked at my blood test results

I set up an online account thing so I can order my prescriptions online and it also enables me to look at my medical history, test results etc.

Back in November I posted here about being itchy all over and a few people suggested I was peri menopausal. I went to the GP and they sent me for blood tests, then they sent me for a retest 4 weeks later, then they sent me for another retest 4 weeks later! But because of the Christmas holidays, kids were poorly, then my daughter had COVID, I only managed to get for my retest on Friday and the results are back already. I got a text from the surgery asking me to contact them and I have a face to face appointment this Thursday morning. I'm shitting it, they told me my Xray results over the phone in December and that wasn't exactly good news (Arthritis in both hips).

I made the mistake of looking at my results on my records and there are quite a few abnormalities. My platelets have risen with each blood test (first test they were 427, now at 487!), I have low MCHC and MCH, and I have raised Eosinophils and Lymphocytes.

I'm absolutely terrified it's something really bad Sad tbh even if I hadn't looked, I'd still be like this because our surgery only do face to face appointments if they absolutely have to, they're mostly over the phone!

Someone tell me to get a grip or something please, this is going to be the longest week ever...

I had a blood test last March and my platelets were 441, which is high for me. My folates were through the floor so he put me on 5mg folic acid and when I was retested, things were normal again. My mind was racing, I was so worried about cancer or rheumatoid arthritis but my GP reckoned it was a transient infection or even just overexertion. Blood test results are so hard to interpret without medical training though, things can be taken out of context.

I really hope it’s nothing bad for you too Flowers

Hi, can I ask you age? Also, were any of the tests for hormone levels?

I'm 30, and I think the first blood test was for everything and included one for hormones. But the last two have just been full blood count I think.

This is interesting because I also have blood tests booked for this week because I've been itching all over. At my initial appointment my GP asked if I thought it could be related to the covid vaccines. It hadn't crossed my mind until then (too busy convincing myself I had cancer!) but the itching did seem to start around the same time I had my first vaccine. Do you think it could be to do with that? Presuming you've had yours of course

I just checked, I don't think so. I was itchy in October and I had my second jab in August and then my booster in December.

Urgh, appointment is today at 10.50. Luckily I have food shopping to do which will keep me busy.

Okay so he said "I don't know how to say this without scaring you... but your platelets are slightly raised, it could be nothing. But we'll retest in 3 months and see what's going on then" He suggested it could be related to my weight so it would be helpful if I could try and lose some and see if it makes a difference. And I've actually lost a few kilos apparently! He also told me about this documentary I should try and watch called The Truth About Getting Fat, and he said it's all about how everything your GP tells you about losing weight is rubbish. And I was like "Oh thanks!" And we laughed, because this was right at the end of our discussion about what I can do to lose weight 😂

He's great, I love it when I can see him instead of the other GPs, he takes everything you say seriously, he listens to your concerns and he never brushes anything off. I see all too often on here when women get brushed off by their GPs as just having 'womens issues' but I went to him with irregular bleeding once and he couldn't have been more helpful. Immediately called for a nurse for an exam and referred me to the Gynae clinic to keep an eye on it.
