Anyone else noticed this? I'm getting about 20% less mpg.

Ive recently had to do several trips to Manchester, motorway driving apart from 3 miles this end and 1 mile the other end.

Ive filled up the tank and kept a not of the milage, then filled the tank again to the top.

Ive had a cycle roof rack added to the car

Im getting 56mpg, before when I did this without a roof rack 3 years ago, I was getting 58mpg

So Im not driving any differently same speed etc and Im. shocked that with the roof rack Im only losing 2 miles per gallon - the petrol Im using is the E10 as its fine in my car

We thought this, then drove from home to a place in the EU after we’d filled the tank to the brim. Noted how many miles were left when we got there.

The car was pushing empty when we filled up for the way home with old style fuel, there was only 1 mile difference in the amount left in the tank on the old style fuel when we got home. We did exactly the same route there and back.

We drove an 11 year old Ford Focus.

It amuses me when people drive past me on the slip road and brake at the top

Don't they realise that its a complete waste of fuel, the slip roads are generally designed to slow you down - just ease your foot of the accelerator and then you won't waste fuel braking at the top

They'll do this and then worry about E10 not giving them so many mpg

accessing the roads and junctions, instead of accelerating and braking or just easing a foot of the accelerator would save people far more in fuel

There are fewer calories in a gallon of E10 95 RON than when it was E5.

Hence you need more of it to get the same performance/mpg.

I filled up with Tesco momentum last week. It's like driving a different car
