Breakfast size for 5yo

What does your 5yo have for breakfast / how much?

5yo ds usually has 1 slice of toast made with seeded batch loaf and a portion of mixed berries but he's been saying he's still hungry after this so today I've given him 2 slices of toast.

Just out of interest, how much does your 5yo eat at breakfast?

@runningoutofnewnames

Would he eat something other than more toast? Perhaps a banana, or a yoghurt?
He would but I don't see what's wrong with more toast tbh?

Just to add variety, I mean.
Some days he has bran flakes or porridge, occasionally at the weekend he has pancakes

@LazyYogi

Definitely add protein as per suggestions above. It makes a huge difference to my 2 year old who just loves carbs carbs carbs but will ask incessantly for more food half an hour after saying he's full unless, I balance breakfast with fat and protein. Doing this gets us to snack time! 😅
There's protein in the bread, milk and butter. I think he must just need more volume of food now so that's fine.

Ds has always eaten a decent breakfast, ever since he was a baby. Normally has toast, cereal and fruit (won't eat porridge or eggs much to my dismay). He eats a lot but very active and slim

DD is only 2 but varies a lot. Some days she barely eats a thing, other days she eats loads. For example, she's hardly eaten at all, yesterday she has 2 scrambled eggs, bacon and toast followed by cereal and milk.

It varies per child but just go by their appetite. If your son is still Hungry, just give him more

With mine it always varied. Someday it was like feeding a whole army. Other days I was sending in extra fruit for break time as they hadn't anything. (Luckily their school also had a policy of letting them eat their fruit early if needed as mist if the kids were on the school bus by 8am, so it was a long morning).

Average was probably cereal, toast, fruit and some water and milk.

pretty good diet -could eat more veg but usually has 2 portions a day

Is this on top of fruit OP? If not, perhaps a smoothie at breakfast to bring this up?

Yes, on top of fruit. He loves fruit, usually 3 a day but would eat it all day if he could.
