Omricon symptoms help!

Hi everyone,

I'm 35 and generally healthy. I tested positive 7 days ago.

Days 1-4 a mix of headache, running nose, sore throat and body aches

Since day 6 all the above symptoms have gone but I feel worse. Absolutely exhausted and shaky. I've had to go for naps and feel floored.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar. If so when did you feel better?

I'm day 7. My symptoms during the first few days were severe flu symptoms. Since then I feel better in a way (less "ill") but like you, utterly shattered, needing naps. My legs feel weak and I generally feel so run down and lethargic. I'm a big walker and can't imagine going on a walk anytime soon. I'm still testing positive with a strong line. I think this is all part of the recovery OP. It's a nasty virus and for many I think it can take a couple of weeks to get over.

Onthehill12345 · 30/01/2022 13:02

Thanks for your reply SallyWD. I just wasn't expecting it. The people that I know that have had it have got better quickly. I must not be one of the lucky ones.

Sending a speedy recovery ☺️

I was like you , I only started to feel like myself again 4 weeks later , I unfortunately had to go to my gp for a course of steroids in the second week too as my asthma was taking a turn.

I hope you feel better soon op.

I had it over New Years. I was asymptomatic but since then I've been so achy all the time. My dh also had it and has experienced the same after effects as you!

CaramelFlaneur · 30/01/2022 13:07

Same here OP. Day 6 and I'm still testing positive and feeling rubbish. Like you the cold symptoms have gone and I'm dizzy, breathless and fatigued. Everyone says that Omicron is so much milder but clearly not for everyone. Hope you feel better soon.

Interrobanger · 30/01/2022 13:11

I’ve got it now and it’s floored me. Have been in bed for four days. It’s just like flu. Awful.

HoneyFlowers · 30/01/2022 13:53

I've had it ten days, very tired but taken an energy supplement that's helped. I've also come out in a chicken pox rash.

7eleven · 30/01/2022 14:02

15 months for me! Make sure you rest, rest, rest

mowglika · 30/01/2022 17:06

I’ve had it for about 4 days now, sore throat and slight cough that’s about it. I think my DH has it but he’s asymptomatic and testing negative on LFT. Fingers crossed it stays mild

Littlegreenfrogcake · 30/01/2022 17:12

I tested positive on 21st December. I've had repeated chest infections, fatigue and general weakness. 36, no pre existing conditions, not overweight, don't smoke etc.

Have been off work since 😔

AuntHilda · 30/01/2022 17:16

I was like you OP, felt like flu, then a cold but exhaustion beyond anything I've experienced before. It started to fade on day 9. Now it's day 12 and I'm pretty much fully better.

greenlynx · 30/01/2022 17:20

My elderly mum had Covid a few months ago. She started with cough and cold symptoms but then they’ve gone after 3-4 days and the only thing she’s got was terrible fatigue. Her blood test was fine, not for her age but generally fine ( her GP was really puzzled) but when she did X Ray it showed pneumonia, not severe just one side but still … I hope you get better soon but maybe something to bear in mind.

IWillBeSeeingYou · 30/01/2022 17:39

Day 9 of symptoms for me, still have crushing fatigued, extreme nausea and dry mouth. Just ate some cake and couldn’t taste it properly, felt like I was eating with a mouth guard in.

Holdontowhat · 30/01/2022 17:44

Same OP, I had it a few weeks ago and felt worse from day 6 onwards. Weird symptoms like losing feeling in my legs. Very very scary at times. Felt like it would never end but around day 15 I woke up and just felt much better. Hope you feel better soon

Somethingsnappy · 30/01/2022 17:51

The same happened to my husband, but it improved quickly. A couple of days feeling shaky/exhausted as you described and then it improved day by day.

WeAreTheHeroes · 30/01/2022 17:54

How do you know you've got omicron and not another variant?

Level75 · 30/01/2022 17:58

Are you all fully vaccinated?

Onthehill12345 · 30/01/2022 18:07

Omicron has been rife in our area so presuming it's that. It went around my son's nursery and most parents just had a quick cold.

Seems a mixed bag. Some people recover after a few days of feeling rubbish whereas some feel awful for ages...I hope that's not me 🤞🏻

Speedy recovery everyone.

Yes full vaccinated plus booster.

@Level75

Are you all fully vaccinated?
Double vaccinated, couldn’t get booster in time
WeAreTheHeroes · 30/01/2022 18:23

I'd be surprised if many people know which variant they've had because the figures come from analysis of positive PCR tests, but I don't want to derail your thread.

The fact some people haven't been very unwell could be down to vaccination or their own immunity. A small proportion of vaccinated people don't develop the antibodies to fight Covid if I've understood correctly.

A double vaccinated colleague in their thirties was unwell for three weeks, one week they couldn't get out of bed, and it's taken them another couple of weeks to stop feeling out of breath when talking or exerting themselves.

Hairyfriend · 30/01/2022 18:26

I speak to people daily who have it, logging their symptoms and recording specific data (No, not test and trace!). Some people feel better 1 day, then a step back with symptoms the next, then better the next etc.

I recommend not rushing back to work asap, or jogging, or sports just because you are out of quarantine! I speak to SO many people who returned to their regular activities straight away and it really knocks them. Some have fainted at work, collapsed doing sports or absolutely knackered from just doing their regular job. Even though the main symptoms might have gone, take it easy, get plenty of rest and don't rush back into a hectic, busy life until you are fully recovered.

Onthehill12345 · 30/01/2022 18:30

Thanks for your advice. It's a very weird virus.

OP posts:
Onthehill12345 · 30/01/2022 18:31

That's good to know about a lack of antibodies. Thank you for your reply.

Batholemubrecht · 30/01/2022 18:31

I work in a covid clinic. Lots of people are feeling like you and it takes them a good 2 - 3 weeks to feel better. Or they improve then get worse again. Advice we give is rest, rest and rest. Sleep if you need to, plenty of fluids, paracetamol for aches and pains. Try not to overdo it. Funnily enough many of the older extremely clinically vulnerable ones seem to do alright, the younger ones are floored by it !

Onthehill12345 · 30/01/2022 18:42

That's great to know I'm not alone. Great to hear from people in the know.
