Going from part time to full time work when all kids at school

I currently have 1 kid in reception and 1 will start next sept, I work 3 days a week sometimes 4. I’ve always looked forward to both my kids being school and getting 9-3 to myself once or twice a week… I’ve mentioned this recently to a few friend IRL who said they will go back to work full time once their youngest is in reception.!!!!

What have others done? I feel potentially robbed of these wonderful days I’ve dreamt up, as if all my friends go back I may feel the peer pressure to 😂 I won’t need to go full time for money as will make more anyway with no nursery costs!

The issue is the school holidays? Unless one can afford the wrap around care or child minder during those times it's hard. I had no relatives nearby and after my second I was paying to work. I didn't live my career enough and I was in the very fortunate position of my husband earning enough. I was sis mid 40s and felt after 20 plus years working I wanted the break.

Make sure you pay lots of pension to compensate for PT work.

I work part time different hours each week over 7 days, mainly so I'm not stuck in the same routine week in week out. Some weeks I do 9.30-2.30 mon-fri others I may do 3am-8am Mon, 4pm-9pm Wednesday and 10am-6pm Sunday.
