Scalp psoriasis treatment?

Anyone recommend a shampoo/treatment for scalp psoriasis? I used to use nizarol with huge success but for some reason it’s no longer working! The usual Tars don’t work for me either Sad

I usually take humira but I’m 30 weeks pregnant so haven’t been on that since I found out. Atm I’m putting on pro topic but needs to be applied every night which means I’m washing my hair everyday which I think is aggravating it! Double edged sword Sad it’s really getting me down, so itchy and flaky! My hair never feels clean.

@PuppyMonkey I’ve just finished a batch of the Philip Kingsley, unfortunately didn’t work for me Sad even used the toner! Just wish there was a cure for it!

Capasal is amazing stuff. I use Capasal first then another shampoo for the second wash. The most important thing with washing your hair with scalp psoriasis, is washing your hair twice. Once for the scalp (Capasal) then once for your hair (whatever shampoo you choose).

Also, get your DH or someone to comb out the flakes every time they build up. There's a few videos on YouTube showing the most effective ways to do this. CojonaJ & 2Muchhair are especially great

@mynameiscalypso same thing happened to me after my first dd was born! The absolute work outbreak of my life. I was covered but couldn’t go back on the biologic I had been on before (stelara) as it wasn’t safe for breastfeeding. Humira took about 6 months to actually work. I’m absolutely dreading it this time, although they said that I can go back on it literally the day I give birth still doesn’t fill me with hope!

Have you tried a shampoo with selenium in? Selsun works wonders.

My husband has plaque psoriasis, covering large areas of his body. He has to take breaks from his medication occasionally, we've found warm olive oil massaged into his scalp and left for a little while before washing helps. It doesn't get rid of the psoriasis redness but definitely eases the irritation,

I also use moogoo because I use it on my son too - whatever you try, try using it as little as possible and alternating with any sulphate free shampoo as the sulphates just dry your scalp out even more. I’ve also found over the years that anything that works initially will eventually stop working (except the steroids).

I get bad eczema on my scalp, I tried all sorts of special shampoos etc that had very little effect before I went to the GP who prescribed Betnovate Scalp Application, which cleared it up magically. I still use it from time to time, but it only needs a couple of days treatment before it's gone again. Magical stuff.

Not sure if this is helpful but I take Humira for Crohn's disease and have taken it right through both my pregnancies, right up to full term. This was on the advice of my gastro consultant and a consultant obstetrician, who I think took the view that if I had a flare during pregnancy that would be a greater risk to the baby than the risk of the medication. But perhaps this is different with psoriasis?

I use moo goo too and it’s the only thing that’s helped in years of trying everything and anything.

I 2nd shampoo with selenium, head and shoulders used to sell one in a box but I've not been able to find it for a few months. Just bought a bottle of Selsun with selenium and hope it works as well but not tried it yet. You have to buy it from a pharmacy but it doesn't need a prescription.

I use things in rotation. I find Superdrug Trichology very good. It has a tonic you can use too.

Isn't it weird that so many of us find a product that works and then it stops working? Bloody sneaky psoriasis.Confused

On the back of this thread I bought some Vichy Dercos. It's fantastic! My s sadcalo is so much better even after only 2 days and it even left my hair looking good! I especially liked being able to buy for normal to oily hair shampoo, most scalp shampoos leave my fine hair looking awful, but I lasted the whole day with my hair looking good.
