Tips for not snacking!

Please tell me- how do you do it?!! My core diet is really healthy, plenty of fruit/ salad/ veg/ protein. But it's the snacking in between meals that is to totally out of hand. 99% of the time it's habit/ boredom and not being able to resist temptation being around food. I WFH now which I know is a factor, when I was in the office I'd take my lunch and healthy snacks for the day with me and that would be it. But now I'm constantly reaching for biscuits/ chocolate/ cakes and crisps and it feels out of control. Hit me with your tips please 🙏

Don’t buy snacks Blush

Literally my belly knows if there is anything remotely yummy in the house. If I don’t have it I can’t eat it.
I’m sure others will have better advice but I’ve just polished off pack 2 of the M&S Jaffa cakes which I purchased at 1130 this morning: I’m telling myself that because they are smaller it’s the equivalent to one pack of normal Jaffa cakes but that is a lie

Brush your teeth once you've eaten your meal?

Worked for me, although not for long enough 🤣

Pre prepare food - it’s really worked well for me
Fruits and veggies cut up and ready
Celery sticks and teaspoon of peanut butter
Low calorie snacks such as fibre 1 bars / protein balls / small pepperamis
Water and drinks instead of snacking

And it’s not easy
And it doesn’t come naturally to me after years of eating whatever but I’m on a real healthy eating kick and the prep is really helping

Perhaps make sure when you shop you aren't hungry & tempted to buy more snacky stuff than usual, make sure you're full and have eaten, so it's not in the house to tempt you...

Carrot/celery/bread sticks/crisp breads with hoummus?

I'll keep thinking :-)

Yes I'm definitely going to cut down on the amount of crap that I have in the house, a lot of it is left over from Christmas and I can't bear to just chuck it out. The other thing is that I love baking, it's one of my ways to relax, unfortunately I have zero will power when it comes to not eating what I've made! (I ate Half a banana cake in 2 hours last weekend Blush)

Carrot and cucumber sticks prepped is a good one and I'll try the brushing teeth too or maybe chewing gum? It's a habit that is SO ingrained now I think it's going to be hard to break....

It takes a couple of weeks of actively choosing not to snack to break the habit. Once you’ve done that it’s much easier.

I feel like I'm addicted to snacking and need some sort of therapy to sort me out?!

The only thing that cracked it for me was Invisalign braces. Drastic and obviously I got them for wonky teeth but you have to deeply clean your teeth each time after eating and honestly it’s so much of a faff that the snacks are just not worth it.

Eat more protein to stay full. Then you won't be reaching out for sugar

I found I needed to keep hands and brain occupied in the evenings. Sewing worked for me, I couldn’t eat and sew at the same time.
