I’d like to ask about veiny breasts please

I was showering yesterday and for the first time in ages I looked into the mirror after with no top on and realised that one breast has more noticeable veins than the other. Obviously I googled and saw that if this is new it can be a sign of cancer so I’m going to see the Dr next week, but I’m not actually sure if it IS new.
I can’t really remember the last time I looked at my breasts face on in the mirror and when I look down it’s not really noticeable as it’s sort of on the side/bottom area.
So I wondered, do any of you have one breast that’s naturally more veiny than the other, or do they match?
I don’t have a lump or any other symptoms at all but it is making me feel very nervous and concerned.

My left one is veinier, it’s also slightly bigger. I’m very very pale with fine visible blue veins on the top of both.

Get checked out if you’re worried.

It’s my lefty one too and I am also pale and my breasts haven’t seen sunlight in about 30 years so they are the whitest part of my body!
I think it’s probably fine but I’ll get it checked anyway. Thanks for replying, it’s one of those things that I have no idea about, maybe we’ve all got one breast veinier than the other.

I'm off to have a look at mine! Very pale skin so everything shows.

I know what you mean about not remembering your normal. I’m breastfeeding so they’re veinier than they used to be and I always notice them. We have the worlds smallest bathroom so I step out of the bath after a shower to my naked torso in the cabinet mirror every time unless it’s all fogged up.

One of mine becomes ‘vein-ier’ when pregnant …

Ozgirl75 · 29/01/2022 00:33

I’m not pregnant and I last breast fed about 8 years ago but I do suspect I’m peri menopausal as I’m 44 and my mum went through the menopause in her late 40s. But I’m on hormonal contraception so I don’t have the normal cyclical fluctuations in my body.

I’m breastfeeding so mine are pretty veiny. Sometimes just have a huge vein in the right one (his favourite boob). It’s usually hormonal so most likely not cancer.

So I had a Dr appt this morning and she was very nice, examined me and said it was well within the realms of normal, that normally a prominent vein that is worrying comes with other issues like redness, thickening etc but it was always worth checking it out.
She has referred me for an ultrasound to reassure me and also to double check as she said clinical examination is only about 25% effective, especially for very small changes.
So I’ll get that done over the next few days and hopefully all will be fine.

Well done and I’m glad she was reassuring. Always best to check. Update if you’d like to.

Ozgirl75 · 01/02/2022 23:22

Thank you! I probably will update, mainly because I haven’t mentioned this to anyone in real like (no need to worry family if there’s nothing to worry about!)

That's good news. Please do update, someone might search this topic at some point and be interested to know the outcome.
