Cafétiere/french press coffee

Does anyone use a cafétiere to make coffee? Was given some coffee for use in a cafétiere but I've never done it before. Tried a couple of times and was a weak water disaster. There seem to be a million different ratios and complications online about how one can go about this. Anyone have a tried and tested way that works which they'd be willing to share? Thank you

I make coffee using cafetiere every day. I put two heaped tablespoons of coffee in and a bit more than a mug full of water. Leave it 5 mins, plunge and pour. Delicious Brew

Is it already ground?

One heaped desert spoon per mugful into the cafetiere. Add boiling water, leave for 5 minutes. It's really pretty straightforward.

I do one every morning. I put 4 desertspoons of coffee in a large-ish cafetiere (It's 2 large mugs of coffee).

Pour boiling water to the top. Stir. Put lid on but don't plunge. A minute later plunge. Pour

(I like mine strong)

I use a filter coffee machine and an espresso pot that goes on the hob which makes stronger more delicious coffee.

What size is your cafetiere?

I have a large one but don't always fill it right up. As a general rule I'd put a heaped tablespoon of coffee per cup/person and add enough water per cup to that.

Use water that is just off the boil and leave it for 3-4 minutes before plunging slowly.

I've got a "3 cup" cafetiere. (It makes 1 mug). I use 2 scoops of coffee. Sometimes 3.

I have a small one. 15g of coffee brew for 3 minutes and plunge

Once you've added the water, stir the pot with a wooden or plastic spoon, if your cafetiere is made of glass. If you use a metal spoon and it touches the sides of the cafetiere, it will likely crack if not shatter altogether. Obviously, not an issue with a metal cafetiere.
