In our local disused park, and curious to know what's living in them..

Could be, or could be rats Hmm

Soubriquet · 28/01/2022 13:54

No. Looks like it might be badger. There’s a lot of digging there

Justkeeppedaling · 28/01/2022 13:55

Any tell tale droppings in the vicinity?

I thought they'd be too small for badger, but it's difficult to tell from a photo.
LizBennet · 28/01/2022 13:57

They look too "obvious" to be rabbit holes 🤔

Soubriquet · 28/01/2022 13:58

I did initially think they were too small but that last picture looks bigger

Mumsnut · 28/01/2022 14:00

Foxes?

Georgepigismylife · 28/01/2022 14:02

They are very obvious holes. Quite in the open.

Found a dropping near the hole.. any wiser?

Badgers. They've just made them, hence the cleanliness of the soil.

Looks like a badger's sett to me, too -- but how 'disused' is the park? We had a good few badgers' setts around us where we used to live, but they tended to be in lonelier places.

MitMopse · 28/01/2022 14:11

Hello lapsed professional ecologist here- absolutely not badger imo as the tunnels are tall and narrow, badger holes are characteristically wider. They look like rabbit holes to me and the dropping confirms it!

drinkingwineoutofamug · 28/01/2022 14:17

Rabbit. Got lots of holes like that in our local woods

Justkeeppedaling · 28/01/2022 15:08

That's a rabbit dropping. Though the holes do seem a bit big. Perhaps they are big rabbits!

elver · 28/01/2022 15:57

It's not a badger sett, they have a D (on it's side) shaped entrance and their droppings look a lot like like human poo! Very likely rabbits.

Stookeen · 28/01/2022 16:33

In fairness, I've seen foxes and rabbits sharing (not the same) badger's sett.
