Govt & Police colluding to cover up?

Ok, so the police are requesting minimal reference to law breaking in Sue Gray’s report…..is this A. Because they’ve found evidence of criminal behaviour and are keeping it out of the public domain in order to not prejudice a prosecution or B. Because they’re colluding with govt to ‘make it go away’? Either way I think we can say that there should be no confidence in BoJo or his sleazy team.

There is a potentially legit reason for restricting publication of some matters: to hide the police's hand and strengthen their position when it comes to potential investigation.

I'm not hugely convinced but it could be the case.

@Ariela
I agree. It’s to distract us from the billions in fraud that they are not going to investigate or pursue. I’d rather the police do that than query what happened at the #10 parties. They had a party. Fine them all and move on, but don’t just say goodbye to billions of our tax money!

@Ariela

A - but you do realise these 'party leaks' are just a HUGE cover-up.

They cover up the fact the government agreed to write off 4.3 BILLION of 5.8 BILLION fraudulent covid support claims through the various government loan and grant schemes? On the day Boris's birthday bash was top front page news, the above fact was buried on page 9.

This is a very good point. Someone, somewhere, has decided that Fucko the Clown is himself expendable - either he can be kept on to draw fire (the public can probably be convinced that Johnson is some sort of modern day Caligula and everything is actually his responsibility) or sacrificed - perhaps packed off to Mustique to 'retire' because he's allegedly ill. Because what really matters is that the ultra-billionaires can carry on stealing and hoarding money amidst all the chaos and screaming.

Because this was always about funnelling even more wealth upwards to the billionaire class (no, they neither 'planned' nor invented the pandemic, they were just well-placed to take advantage of it when it happened. Remember it mostly killed the poor and the powerless, despite all the hype - but it was a great way to keep the middle-class respectables in a ferment...)

@EvilPea

It has to be A surely? I mean the police investigation now means every question about the report or parties will be replied “we have to wait for the police to investigate, but we’ve got world beating vaccines and the fastest growingeconomy”
and, "Ukraine".
WildRosie · 28/01/2022 20:27

According to the latest from the BBC, the Gray report will no longer be delayed and will be delivered before the police have finished their investigations.

RedToothBrush · 28/01/2022 21:02

Y'know I'd normally say that collusion was a conspiracy theory between the met and government.

But.

The met and cressida dick have made so many fuck up of late, i cant help but think a 'you scratch mine and i'll scratch yours' mentality has crept in.

Blinkingbatshit · 28/01/2022 21:13

The fraud is another reason for which they must go!! I’m horrified we’re left in the hands of the MPs of the majority party who will only want to save their own skins - thank you for the explanation @FacebookPhotos. I CAANOT believe we have no independent authority who can call time on this shit show.

We used to, it used to be that the King or Queen once had power to sack the PM and/or dissolve Parliament and have new elections done.

WhatScratch · 28/01/2022 22:50

I’ve seen reports that they may release a redacted version soon. That’s just not good enough.

frustratedhostage · 28/01/2022 22:53

It's looking more and more dictatorshippy by the day...

They still do, sort of. But Liz Windsor won't. I have very little time for the Windsor parasites anyway, but I used to have a vague sort of benevolent feeling towards her as duty-driven, didn't ask for the job, well intentioned etc. Up until Blair took the UK into the Iraq war - she could have stopped him, but she didn't bother. Then it came out that the only times she has interfered with what governments want to do were when letting them crack on would have meant her getting a bit less public money...

Really? I thought that the Constitution enacted by the Coronation Oath Act of 1688 would prohibit her from stopping Parliament from declaring war as it made Parliament sovereign over the King/Queen.

B. Everyone involved frantically in damage limitation mode. Except those who are SO arrogant (Johnson, JRM, most of Cabinet) that they know ot doesn't matter anymore anyway.
