Problems sleeping - 5 week old

We have a 5 week old boy who can sleep all day and night on anyone. However when we put him in his pram or cot the most he'll sleep is 45 mins. We've tried all sorts - swaddling, clothing near by with my smell, white noise, rocking, dummy/no dummy, getting him into a deep sleep before laying him down and making sure he's settled. We've made sure he does sleep so not overtired and temp etc is correct. Bathing at night and keeping room dark. We're not sure what else to do, any advice would be greatly appreciated as this has been going on for weeks now.

Unfortunately some babies are like that. DD was. It took months to be able to get her to sleep for 90 minutes at a time... and 2 years for that to increase.

Sounds like a normal baby to me OP. It won't be forever but it is tough going.

Co sleeping saved my life and sanity - look up how to cosleep safely! Especially anaIng if you are breastfeeding.

'It's been going on for weeks now' your baby is 5 weeks old...

Look up the 4th trimester and learn about what's biologically normal for infant sleep - it's not the sleeping through the night by 12 week rubbish that leaves parents at their wits end thinking they're doing 'it' wrong.

Some babies are normally like this.

My 3 month old was like this. I found that putting him to sleep in our bed worked. Also got rid of the Moses basket and built his cot. In is cot where his head lays I've put my scarf down spread across the mattress flat like a bedsheet and the excess tucked under. He sleeps a solid few hours in his cot now, they just want to be near you. So you can trick them with your smell and they think you're nearby. It's worked for me, hope it works for you!

My baby is still the same at 8 months unfortunately x

mine was 4 before she slept through the entire night. Sorry. Get used to the lack of sleep- go to bed earlier, find a nice coffee you like. This too will pass

You can try a few things to help your baby sleep better. First, make sure the sleeping environment is conducive to sleep - dark, quiet, and comfortable. You can also try rocking or nursing your baby to sleep. Finally, establish a bedtime routine and stick to it as much as possible. Wild

Most likely, a big role here is played by the fact that children at birth feel safe only around their parents, and without them they feel defenseless. Alyus, perhaps the baby does not like the materials of the crib, have you tried to change them?
