Just that really? I wake earlier then the kids and some mornings are fab and easy and others are like hectic and that’s before I’ve even started work

7am alarm and faff on phone in bed
7:15 wake DC and I go downstairs and feed/let out animals, make toast, fill water bottles (packed lunches made night before) put coats and bags by front door etc
7:30 deliver breakfast to DC (8 & 10) in their rooms, I shower
7:45 DS showers, I iron my own clothes (uniforms already done)
7:55 DD showers, I dry my hair
8:05 - 8:20 All get dressed, hair dried, make up on on for me (DC watch TV if ready early) News on bedroom TV for me
8:20 final checks downstairs
8:25 DS leaves on bike
8:30 DD and I leave to walk to school (10 mins)
9:00 WFH commences!

Works great, everybody knows what needs doing when, exact same every morning. DH leaves at 6:30am so misses all the fun! 😏

One kid. Age 7. Primary 3. Clothes/shoes/bags/playpeice etc is set out the night before and in Scotland kids get free school dinners so no making them either.

We both get up at 8. He goes to bathroom first and gets washed/teeth dressed etc while I head down to make a cuppa and become human. I make him one too and leave it on the bunker for him. When he’s finished he comes down and makes himself porridge or toast or whatever and has his tea while I go to the bathroom and get washed and dressed. He leaves after he’s ate at about 25 past 8 and heads down to the bus stop with his wee pals for the school bus at half 8. Our village school shut so the kids are bussed half an hour away into town for school. Pretty easy going. That’s how we’ve always done it. He gets in from school about half 3 on the school bus and I’m not in till 4 so he sees to himself then too.

My god!
7-7:30 I get up and have coffee
Wonderful mornings are when my dc wakes me
8am I rouse dc
8:05 I rouse dc
This goes on a while
I’ll get lunches and bags ready while dc get dressed
Breakfast on the go

And I wonder why it’s a panic, I should be getting up a lot earlier

Work days: I get up at 6.30 and shower and get dressed etc. 6.50 I get youngest up and shout to teens to check they're up. I dress the 8 year old which is ridiculous but she's a faffer so we'd be late if I left her to it. Then breakfast and brush teeth for her, I get my huge flask of coffee ready and feed the cat. Lunches are ready the night before so I just check youngest's bag and the teens sort themselves out. I drop youngest at my sisters, dh drops teens at school, I try to leave by 7.30

Non work days- up at 7, get youngest up and persuade her to dress herself. I make lunches, shout to 8 year old at about 7.30 to get her breakfast now or she won't get any. Then I go and get dressed etc. leave at about 7.55 and drop teens at school by 8.10 then we park the car and go to the playpark on the way to school or if it's wet park near school and play on Snapchat! Drop youngest off at 8.40-8.50

14yo goes to school before I get up. 9yo does their lunchbox and eats breakfast whilst I'm showering and dressing. They do their teeth whilst I chug down a coffee and we leave a few minutes early for a nice walk to school. I get back home and start work.

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 27/01/2022 23:53

7.20 - alarm goes off, waking up me, DH & ds. Dd already up watching tv.
7.30 - kids eat while one of us does packed lunches and the other lays out uniforms
7.50 - dd upstairs to get ready
8 - slow eating ds starts getting dressed
8.15 - bottles, bags and coats
8.25 - kids leave house with DH, I tidy and get ready before starting work at 9

Amberheartkitty · 28/01/2022 00:00

Get up at 8. Dress younger kids while they are half asleep. Make breakfast. Brush kids teeth and hair. Out the door for 8:40. I don’t shower, brush my hair or put make up on. Everyone bathes and showers in the evenings here. No one goes to bed with the days dirt on them.

Kids are 12 & 14. Unbelievably (to me) other parents tell me they are still organising water bottles, snacks, kit for their DC at this age!!

DC are 17 & 15 I make them a drink in the morning. As a teen I sorted myself out before anyone was up. It made me feel like no one cared TBH so will always get them up and show them a bit of TLC .

My teen years were similar and I felt the same.

Don't do it now, but was a nanny, I would arrive at 7 as the family awoke.
Empty Dishwasher, put a load in the washing machine.
Make breakfast for 2 children, make lunches, breakfast dishes in dishwasher, while children clean teeth and wash faces.
Shoes, and coats on. Lunches in bags out the door.

One trick I found worked well was to have a alarm go off for each time i.e breakfast, teeth, coats the children knew it was that time then without me nagging them.

spellingtest · 28/01/2022 06:53

Wake at 6:15. Scroll phone for a bit then get dressed and brush teeth, wash face.
Teenagers woken at 6:30
Teenagers shower and faff until 7am
Pile into car and drive to next town for school bus to collect them at 7:30
Whizz into supermarket to replace chocolate supplies
8am Home to shower and slap on make up
Desk by 8:45 to start WFH

Up at 7. Dh walks dog. I wake 15 yo ds. 5 min snuggle with him he then spends ages getting dressed and on hair. 12 yo dd doesn't need to be woken up. She goes downstairs and puts on her and her older brothers breakfast. DH when back makes me tea. I get dressed then etc and then pack schoolbag with lunches made night before. Drop ds and dd to school for 8. Back to house. Dh goes to work. I wake ds 2 who is 10. He gets dressed and has breakfast. Drop him to school and I head to work then. Lunches in fridge and clothes for everyone ready from night before. Makes a big difference.

dorkfink · 28/01/2022 07:18

Get up around 7.45/8, help dc get dressed. Their uniform is just hanging in their wardrobes & I have at least 5x everything. Don't need to lie anything out. Have a shower if needed whilst dc eat breakfast. DH does the school run currently so leaves at 8.40. He's back in 5 mins so we might have breakfast together, put a wash on/out. If I'm working DH will often give me a lift.

dorkfink · 28/01/2022 07:20

We tend to pay for school lunches to save time making lunches.

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 29/01/2022 09:12

7am alarm goes off, I snooze
7.15 second alarm, I read news, check messages etc. DH up, shower, starts work (wfh).
7.30/40 wake up DC if not up already
I shower, dress etc while DC reads or watches cbbc on tablet
7.50/8am breakfast & fruit for DC, coffee & tea for me/DH (school lunches so dont need to prepare lunch, just snack for after-school club and water bottle)
then get them dressed, brush hair, brush teeth, clean face, get school bag ready.
8.45 DH takes DC to school (nearby so they walk), I tidy and start work for 9 (wfh)
Mostly it goes smoothly - but some mornings can be stressful 😫

ScrumpyBetty · 29/01/2022 09:15

Up just before 6, walk dog until 6.50.

Feed dog. Wake DS 9 up.
I shower.
Breakfast 7.15.
Wash up brush teeth 7.30

Out of door to work and breakfast club 7.45
All lunches made and bags packed precious evening.

It's exhausting!

kalidasa · 29/01/2022 09:27

DH gets up first, often quite early, makes coffee, eats breakfast, looks at his laptop; DS2 (7) is generally up by 7 at the latest, has breakfast with DH and does whatever homework he has for the day with him (only ever 5 mins reading or so); I get up at 7.30 and we wake DS1 (9) at 7.30 too. DH and I both shower between 7.30 and 8 while DS1 has breakfast and both children get dressed. If they are completely ready by 8 they are allowed 10 mins of TV till 8.10. At the moment I am heavily pregnant and can't really walk (failing pelvis) so DH walks them to school at 8.10ish to arrive at 8.20ish but I sort out bags, coats, masks etc (we are in France so they need masks for school each day and DS1 has to take loads of books/homework in every day). DH goes straight on from school to work. I generally eat breakfast once they've gone then start work too, I am working from home. If I were able bodied we would take turns with the walk to school. We don't have to worry about packed lunches, thank goodness.
