Heated throw? Do any of them actually work?!?

Hi folks

I’ve bought 2 x different makes of heated throws for £35 to £40 off of Amazon, my flat isn’t very warm and sometimes gets down to 13.5 degrees at night, sitting in the living room I’d actually like to find a heated throw where the whole blanket heats up!

only the sides and the top heat up on the ones I’ve had.. None actually do what they say they do!!

The dreamcatcher one was useless… just sending it back as we speak, haven’t tried the dreamland model.. 🤔

Anyone recommend one that completely heats up all over? I may have to spend a bit more then

Thanks 😊

This thread is slightly old now so some of the suggestions may be out of stock, but if you’ve landed here looking for cosy heated blankets, we’ve recently updated our best heated throw page with loads of great options that have been tried and tested by Mumsnet users. I’ve got the dreamland one. I’m very happy with it. But it cost more at about £50. I bought mine from John Lewis, as I don’t trust Amazon to sell non counterfeit electric products.

I got the £100 one from Lakeland, so a bit of an extravagance but I have the heating on less and it’s my favourite purchase from 2021!

hapagirl · 27/01/2022 15:39

I have a Lakeland one. It was about 70 pounds. It’s amazing and hot. It’s been hijacked by the cat and dog though.

I bought two aldi heated throws last year, one on the sofa, one on the bed (bought for the caravan but haven't been away), I'm happy with them, 9 heat settings, 9 time settings, poppers which allow it be closed similar to a sleeping bag but only meant for your feet and legs,it warms up all over and my dogs love to climb up beside me when I've it on.

chipsandpeas · 27/01/2022 15:43

I also have the Dreamland Relaxwell one and am happy with it. It's not super warm like a hot water bottle would be, but is perfect for keeping me warm when I'm staying still.

itsgettingweird · 27/01/2022 15:47

I have exactly the same one as chips

It's lovely!

Snowiscold · 27/01/2022 15:47

I have the Dreamland one. It’s very good. Wouldn’t be without it.

PickAChew · 27/01/2022 15:49

We have the dreamland one. It's warm, already, even before it's heated up.

Hoolihan · 27/01/2022 15:51

I'm sitting under the Dreamland one right now, super toasty. Was about £50 from Argos.

PunsDontKillPeople · 27/01/2022 15:52

Yeah I also have the Dreamland one (gift from my mum a couple of Christmases ago) and I love it. It keeps me toasty while I'm WFH so I don't need to put the heating on during the day!

mrsmoppp · 27/01/2022 15:53

Mine is off eBay and it's the best purchase - beware it makes you fall asleep it's so warm and snuggly

WayneHarris · 27/01/2022 16:04

Yeah but ladies… do your blankets fully heat up? The entire blanket I mean? Or only partially heat up?
Able to go and order the Dreamland one now :)

I've got one off Amazon by a company called Beurer and it's amazing.

CMOTDibbler · 27/01/2022 16:10

I have two Lakeland ones, and they are warm all over. I never get mine higher than 2 it is so warm

DaisyWaldron · 27/01/2022 16:41

They have heated wire bits arranged in a pattern, so only the wiry bits get properly hot, but they are close enough together that the overall effect is one of heat all over, and they also warm up the bits that are just blanket.

Imabouttoexplode · 27/01/2022 17:01

They only heat up where the electric wires are, so the corners for instance don't get warm but as above, the heat seems to disperse throughout the whole blanket.

Paddingtonthebear · 27/01/2022 17:02

I have the Dreamland one, it has wires running through it that heat up and 6 different heat settings. I think it’s great.

MegaClutterSlut · 27/01/2022 17:08

I have a Cozee home one that we all fight over I paid £4 for it at a bootsale and I love it

Redlorryyellowduck · 27/01/2022 17:35

I bought the dreamland one from Argos and was so disappointed, it barely got any warmer than just wrapping a regular blanket around yourself. I even took it back and exchanged as faulty, the other one was equally bad, so I think maybe my expectations were just too high.

Minnie747 · 27/01/2022 17:52

Dreamland, honestly one of best purchases ever! As already stated the effect feels like whole blanket it warm, as wires close together. Worth the money.
