I'm in lots of pain with my gallbladder currently, been hurting since about 4pm, but I don't have anyone to have the children if i went to hospital?.
In so much pain, anything that could help from home? Last time I did end up in hospital for over 24 hours to get some good pain relief!

I ended up with sepsis and emergency surgery so be careful.
But things that helped me in midst of attack:
Being sick
Really hot bath
Buscopan
Getting child to stand on my back

I ended up with pancreatitis and a week long hospital stay...... Im lucky I didn't die.

If the pain has lasted this long and isn't going away you really do need to be seen.

louyh · 27/01/2022 01:15

I am now trying a hot water bottle! I know I have 5 biggish gallstones hence why I every single often get into pain

I ended up with pancreatitis a 10 day hospital stay and I’m lucky to be alive. If your pain has lasted this long I think it’s safe to say you need to be seen.

Moonshine9 · 27/01/2022 01:34

I went to hospital and they did surgery to remove the next day, turned out it had started to go gangrenous so could have turned dangerous. You should be seen really!

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 27/01/2022 03:36

I'd get some Buscopan in. It's brilliant and relieves the spasms very quickly.

I keep my gallbladder under control with some olive oil and lemon juice mixed together - about 25mls each every morning. Try to stay off spicy food and processed fatty food. Coffee can also exacerbate the pain.

I hope you're okay.

DropYourSword · 27/01/2022 03:49

I ended up having frequent attacks and when I went into hospital for pain relief I came out 3 days later sans gallbladder!

I don't think taking olive oil for someone actively experiencing gallbladder attacks is good advice at all!

This is what I was afraid of until I tried it out of desperation and it was fine, you need to take it with the lemon juice though.

Hot water helped as far as me able to get a few hours sleep, defo gonna try and get some childcare in the morning though As am still in quite a bit of pain!

Do you have any Buscopan in? They sell it in larger supermarkets now if you can't get to a pharmacy.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 27/01/2022 04:28

Are they planning on removing your gallbladder? You can't continue in pain like this.

Geamhradh · 27/01/2022 06:02

Hope you are feeling better. I'm another one waiting for treatment.
I find (aside from buscopan and hot water bottles) when needed that digestive enzymes before meals help, and in an attack, the first thing I go for is apple cider vinegar. Peppermint oil also helps more than I ever imagined, I take capsules and drink the tea.

LadyCleathStuart · 27/01/2022 07:46

My DH is currently wairing on removal (we have been told not to hold our breath unless it turns very nasty like some pp's).

He takes buscopan but says it doesn't really help.

I have no advice other than push to be referred for removal, good luck.

louyh · 27/01/2022 08:08

Thanks everyone for your help last night, managed to get sleep on and off last night, now woken up after 3 hours of sleep, woken up to what I would describe as grumbling pains from it, not really sure what to do tbh!

You need seen this morning, pancreatitis, stone lodged in common bile duct and infected gallbladder are all very serious. A&E.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 27/01/2022 08:48

Try and speak to the GP. There's no indication that it's pancreatitis, but it obviously needs addressing.

Management with self care is possible.

Have they talked about a plan for removal?

MindBodyChocolate · 27/01/2022 08:52

Are you on a waiting list for removal? If not can you push for this? Nothing really relieves the pain which can be horrendous and it will get worse. It was only after I’d had mine removed that I realized how rotten I’d been feeling for years.

louyh · 27/01/2022 08:56

Well the doctor had referred me in October, I was on holiday when it last went so a completely different trust but I know the referral was made! Still can't get any childcare- husband is training in a emergency service so can't get time off!

Can you get to the chemist and supermarket? You need the Buscopan asap. It'll relieve the spasms. Do you have a Pharmacy near you?
