Commuting to Wood Lane/White City from Berkshire - which train to get?

I'm commuting to the Wood Lane/White City area and have a few different options depending on which train station I drive to. I can go via Paddington or Waterloo.

Waterloo is easier for me, but conscious that Paddington seems more direct.

Any advice or suggestions would be really appreciated! Thank you

Paddington would be faster and then Hammersmith & City line to Wood Lane about 10mins. That’s overland tube so much more pleasant than Waterloo and crossing london on jubilee/central line.

Remember Sheoherds Bush overland connects with Clapham Junction too, if that’s an option on Waterloo line stop

Yes if you can change at Clapham just go direct to Shepherds Bush, else just go to Paddington

Yes I can change at Clapham, never even realised that route was an option so thank you both!

I've just looked on Google maps and driving to Reading then Paddington to Wood Lane via Hammersmith & City line vs going to Clapham Junction and then Shepherd's Bush and then walking to Wood Lane looks about the same in terms of time. I think I can walk through Westfield to go from Hammersmith to Wood Lane to cut the corners and save time?

Which do you think might be the better option?

Where on Wood Lane, is it the uni?

Nothing is that far tbh, I hate the tube so would always go for the change at Clapham, and might be cheaper as you'd avoid zone 1 too.

I am hoping we're going to be relocated there soon, I started at Hammersmith Hospital 20+ years ago, the transport and area has increased exponentially since then

Not the uni, it's about a 5 minute walk from Wood Lane tube station

In my experience, much quicker going to Paddington and taking the tube to Wood Lane, less quick but maybe more convenient depending on your nearest station is Ealing Broadway then central line to White City. DH used to work opposite the BBC Broadcast Centre and he’s never even considered Waterloo - but he ended up switching to driving in the end as it was a lot cheaper.

Depending on where you live, you might find it quicker overall to drive to Twyford rather than Reading - some of the rush hour trains from there are fast ones, and even with the slower ones, you might find the congestion going into Reading would lose you just as much time.
