Can lateral flow devices pick up covid from throat swab only?

I know, they’re supposed to be used for both but I had nasal surgery at the weekend and I can’t risk sticking a swab up my hooter at the moment.

Wouldn’t be so worried but DS tested positive a couple of days ago so I’d like to decipher whether my symptoms are post surgical or covid.

Google isn’t being so helpful so any anecdotal data on positive tests from throat swab only?

I think the throat is more coviddy than the nose so it's better.

Ds showed with just throat. If he touched inside his nose he'd have a massive bleed.

I’m kinda hoping it can be the other way round: no problem with nose but as soon as I put it in my mouth I start gagging. I just can’t do the throat thing at all!
The ones I’ve had for travelling have been nose only, but I’m not sure if they’re the same as the “domestic” ones.

The recent NHS ones we’ve had are nose only.

@HPLikecraft - I read somewhere that if you say ‘ahhhh’ as you do it, it’s much easier and less likely to cause gag reflex. Tried it and it worked for me!

Thanks, @IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads and @Beakerandbungle... I'll look out for the new NHS ones and in the meantime I'll try the "aah" technique!

Yes they definitely can as DD has a real phobia of stuff up her nose and recently tested positive on both LFTs and PCR by doing her throat only.
