You know when you have days that just don't go right?

Nothing major, just a series of petty annoyances.

The car didn't charge properly last night, I always check that the light has gone blue when I plug it in but when I came out this morning it only had 10km on it. It's a PHEV so I could still use the petrol engine, but I much prefer the electric.

I made DD bacon for breakfast, only for her to announce that she doesn't like maple-cured anymore. There was nothing else so she ate it anyway but whinged the whole time.

I had to drop DD early for basketball training (usually she gets a lift from a neighbour) and there were roadworks.

I told DS to be ready to leave as soon as I got back from DD's school run because I had to go to a GP appointment immediately after dropping him and traffic can be unpredictable. He wasn't ready. There was shouting.

I came back and put a wash on. I just went to take it out of the washing machine and I had loaded the Colour Catcher and the laundry powder but NOT the clothes. Hmm

I went to put the final boarders onto a quilt that I'm making for a friend. The boarder fabric is navy and has somehow managed to get entirely covered in pale fluff and threads so I've had to de-fluff a huge amount of fabric with a tiny lint roller. It took ages.

It's only lunchtime, there's a whole afternoon of opportunity for things to go wrong.

And last night I went to the drive through McD's for the DC because football training was really awkwardly timed so it was just easier and they didn't put the chips in the bag.

I told DS that I would be picking up DD at 3pm so I could pick him up either before 2.30 or after 3.30 (he has irregular college hours and often goes to the gym afterwards). He has just texted me to say he'll be finished at 3.10. Hmm

Sometimes when a couple of things go wrong it's tempting to extrapolate that and psychologically you are now registering every little thing.

You might not have noticed some of these on a normal day. Try and put it in perspective.

Sorry you are having a bad day though!

That's true, I'm pretty sure it's just lack of sleep, especially the washing machine incident. Grin

I think, actually, that I have become very used to having DH around all the time because he's been working from home for so long. Obviously he's working most of the time but he has generally been able to give just enough help at just the right time to make everything run smoothly, so I'd forgotten that life is persistently a bit awkward. He's away for a couple of days, and it really shows. Grin

I find my days spiral if I get stuck in traffic and arrive late at work. Something to do with already being wound up just seems to make things come crashing down around me! It sounds like a rubbish day for you too!

I've also just remembered that yesterday evening the plumber said he had a last minute availability to come and change our electric shower this morning at 9 am and I had to turn him down because of the annoying school run/GP appointment combo. Literally any morning in the last two years would have been fine because there was always someone at home, except this morning.

However he's going to try and come next week instead. So just one more week of tepid showers because using the scorching hot level trips the switch on the fuse board.

Mercury retrograde.

@sleaf

Mercury retrograde.
I might rename DH that. Grin
