Pregnancy Gum Tumour

Recently had a baby (2 weeks ago) but during the end of pregnancy I developed a lump on the front of my gum, it grew and now is just this flappy skin, I’ve been told it’s something called a ‘pregnancy tumour’ it’s harmless and the cause is just through increased pregnancy hormones and how all that effects the gums….im wondering if anyone else has had this and when it went away? It’s really bothering me now in a sense of people can see it when I talk and it’s really getting me down, I’ve tried getting into a dentist but there’s 2 year waiting lists! I just want something done to it, either removed or just be told it will go and a time frame! Any advice or previous experience with this is welcome

I had them in my first pregnancy. The dentist told me it would shrink and go away. I bit it off as it was doing my head in Blush

Hi
I had this when pregnant - a growth over the front of one of my teeth. It wasn’t especially noticeable but it really bothered me as I was anxious as to what it was. The first dentist I saw said it was due to poor hygiene and said to use corsodyl. When this didn’t resolve it I changed dentist and they removed it using local anaesthetic. You’d never have known it was there. Tested just to check it was benign and all good. Mine wasn’t showing any signs of going away on its own and I wasn’t told it was an option to just disappear post pregnancy. It was a really simple procedure - I think it was described as a mushroom type tumour where the front hit over my tooth was quite large but it was only attached to the gum by a small stalk which needed cutting. I don’t know what your options would be if you can’t find a dentist though, I’m with an nhs dentist but they are really difficult to come by where I live.
