I work in a coffee shop. Today has been one of those days Hmm

All was going well until a customer slammed his drink down on the counter in a fit of rage, all because we were doing takeout cups only. (Dishwasher broken) and the engineer is due this afternoon. You can still sit in but can only have takeout cups. Head offices decision, not ours.

Said drink went all over myself and his hands. It was a large black tea so you can imagine how hot it was.

So now I've been sent home and I'm pretty bored. Does anyone else have and interesting customer stories? Do tell I need a rant

Oh and one last thing. We had signs all over the shop and shop front stating we are doing takeout cups only.

I think one of the grossest stories is a customer asking to use his own cup. We took the lid off and it was thick with mould. He asked us to rinse it out. NO Grin

When I worked in a small branch of supermarket there was a huge milk spillage in the warehouse.. A booming voice was heard shouting that an elephant had ejaculated and mops were needed..
From our manager!!
Shock
He was a bit of a clown. And in fact turned out to be the shop thief he was always telling us to be on the lookout for!
Huge Shock

I worked in the wine trade a long time ago, and part of my job (probably the part I enjoyed the most, actually) was running tastings for private or corporate clients, often helping them select the wine list for events.

Most of them were great - I met a lot of nice, interesting people, and I enjoyed helping them find exactly what they wanted.

One that stands out for the wrong reasons, though, was a tasting for a very high-end 'society' wedding, which ended when the groom got utterly plastered (which is really not a thing - tasting measures are quite small, so he must have been really ploughing into the open bottles), threw a glass of red wine at the wall and stormed out, yelling that he didn't want to marry 'that b*tch' anyway.

Those that remained included an utterly distraught, sobbing bride, a FURIOUS father of the bride, and a bunch of bridesmaids and I feeling very awkward. I have never packed up my kit and exited so quickly...

Can't stand rude people, and imagine how much worse he'll be AFTER he's had a coffee

All the many maaaaany people who squeeze in a moment before closing or as you’re shutting the door, say “I just really need to grab this one thing etc” then proceed to take forever, want to try things on, act like staff should be grateful when all the staff are getting out of this is unpaid overtime at the end of a long day.

Worked in retail for years, too many horror stories to relate. It would take about a year. In brief.....customers who rant and declare they are never shopping here again (see you next week then)
Customers who ring up saying their card has been used instore and it wasn't them. (Spend 20 mins searching back office then ringing customer back to remind them they used the petrol station on said date)
Closing time, trying to get customers out is like trying to remove dog sh*t from a shoe
The sheer entitlement of some people who think they can treat retail staff like garbage.
I could go on but I won't.
Pretty sure e everyone in retail knows exactly where I'm coming from one!!
