Boiler replacement - please help!

I appreciate this may not be the best place to ask, but I’m hoping someone more practical than me will be able to answer this!

I need to get my combi boiler replaced. (It’s beyond repair unfortunately Sad) No need to relocate it, so it should be relatively simple, as much as these things ever are!

What I’m wondering is whether the engineer will just need access to the area/room where the boiler is located, or will he or she need to access all rooms in the house (e.g. to check the radiators post-installation)? The thought of clearing out the spare room fills me with dread Blush; plus, there’s no point in me clearing the area around the boiler for them to work if, by moving things into another room, I’ll end up blocking access.

Does anyone know; from recent experience if nothing else? I know it’s not the most exciting of topics, so thank you to anyone who bothered to read this far!

I had mine done a few years back and yes he needed access to all radiators (sorry).
He had the right hump as one is completely inaccessible.

One started leaking after he’d done it, so he had to come back to do that. So it was lucky it was one he could get to

Yes access to every room. My nd had theirs done and it worked out some pipes were wrong size too, old regs I believe. So had to have the enitre boiler and heating system replaced

I had mine done recently. The engineer needed access to the boiler and the gas meter. The only thing he did to the radiators was touch them to see if they were hot. Obviously, I can't swear as to what your engineer might want, but you might get away with it if you aren't using the radiator in that room.

Hi we had ours done recently he needed access to the boiler, the hot press, the side of the house for the flue. I think that was it

Stringervest · 25/01/2022 21:35

I don't remember him needing access to the radiators when ours was replaced.

Plumber husband would need access to all rooms to make sure all radiators were heating up ok and to bleed any that weren’t.

Any engineer worth their fee will check for airlocks and want to check all your radiators are working. We had a nightmare with ours as we removed a gravity fed system so they had to get in the loft and airing cupboard as well. Took us ages to empty access for it all, but very worth it as our new boiler uses so much less gas and we're warmer.
