Panicking- strepsil and junior ibuprofen

Thanks if anyone’s reading (and even better if you can put my mind at rest!)

I wouldn’t normally think twice but 10 year old has been up with v sore throat and feeling ill (unlike her).

Gave a strepsil for throat, then junior ibuprofen- she said is it ok, I said of course- now I’ve looked it up and it says you shouldn’t mix them.

Please someone tell me it’s ok (or what to do if not…) feeling stupid and worrying…..

Don't worry. I had no idea you shouldn't mix strepsils with ibuprofen and I've given both to my kids lots of times. What does it say can happen? Sometimes medicines shouldn't be mixed because one makes the other less effective. Try not to worry. Hard to do I know!

It wouldn't occur to me to check, it'll be fine!
If you have paracetamol in the house may be use that instead of the ibuprofen if you're worried.
Hope your DD feels better soon.

Strepsils contain antiseptic.
Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory.

Usually when things say not to mix them it's because they are the same type of Medici and you could overdose. In this instance I wouldn't worry in the slightest - they aren't the same types of medicine. In fact, it would make sense to me to use both!
