For a few weeks now i have been having to force myself to eat and its been mostly plain things like toast - a salad or pasta .
I am eating but i just have no appetite for anything other than basic food - no cheese, meat sweet things etc.

I was overweight before and as i say i am still eating an ok diet so im not exactly going to fade away but i am just really confused.

I cant think of a time i have either had no appetite or just not fancied all the foods i love.
As i say its been a few weeks now and i am noticing i starting to lose weight (not a problem i need to lose weight!)

But i am just confused whats going on.

I feel totally well.

Has anyone else had this it seems like a stupid thing for a fat person to be worries they dont want to eat and that they are losing weight but here we are!

Are you constipated? That can reduce appetite.

daisybrown37 · 24/01/2022 13:26

Have you had covid? Do things taste different: smell different?

If this has been going on a while, I would get it checked out by your GP.

IWasHotInTheNineties · 24/01/2022 13:27

Sounds like covid 😳

I had Covid in December and am still suffering from the disruption to my appetite. I have a constant low level nausea, and certain foods that I used to love make me heave.

It's driving me batshit.

LemonViolet · 24/01/2022 13:35

It is a valid reason to see your GP, hopefully they’ll do some bloods to check you out.

Adogisonmypillow · 24/01/2022 17:10

I had covid last august and i did lose my taste and smell i think its back to normal now although its hard to tell isnt it!

I have thought about asking the gp but until im actually underweight or even a healthy weight! I feel like they will just laugh at me!

Are you taking any cold/sinus medication?

niceupthedanceagain · 24/01/2022 17:16

I had lack of appetite for no apparent reason in last winter's lockdown - now I can see it was clearly a stress reaction. Are you stressed or feeling low mood?

I can't eat anything now either but I have covid which explains it

MyMoneyIsAllSpent · 24/01/2022 17:19

I have very unpleasant congestion at the back of my throat to the point that sometimes when I try to blow my nose my throat actually closes up. I'm constantly trying to clear my throat and can not really stand the texture of food in my mouth. I'm extremely nauseous but have managed to get a Doctors appointment tomorrow. My daughter is similar but not as bad. It would be interesting to see how many people are like this. I've felt like this for over 4 weeks. It literally makes me gag to the point my muscles hurt.

NotJustACigar · 24/01/2022 17:24

I had a loss of appetite and it turned out to be a serious illness (I won't name the illness as its a symptom of several). Definitely see your GP - it's probably stress or something but best to get blood tests to be sure.

Adogisonmypillow · 24/01/2022 19:53

Niceup i have had a few stresses lately so it could be related to that im not sure though im not great at acknowledging stress i dont think Grin

Notjust - i am sorry to hear that i actually spoke to the gp a few weeks ago because the pharmacist did my blood pressure at my flu jab and it was high - So he emailed the gp.
My blood pressure was fine at home and the doctor asked me how i was feeling etc and i said i was totally fine, wonderful basically a picture of health and happiness so i feel a little stupid admitting i lied. But if it may be more serious it worth it.

You say def not pregnant, so that means you're linking it to pregnancy symptoms? Any others? It can be a symptom of an ovarian cyst. Probably best to get checked.

Adogisonmypillow · 24/01/2022 20:05

I have had quite a lot of cramping mid cycle but i do normally get that - just this month has been a little more noticable.

I was going to suggest the same and in your position I’d get things checked out as a friend recently was tested for ovarian cancer (thankfully she didn’t have it) and one of her symptoms that worried the doctor was loss of appetite - it turned out to be a ovarian cyst.

The body can feel the toll without the mind registering it fully.
LunaAndHerMoonDragons · 24/01/2022 21:01

It could be stress, but best to get it checked out.
If you decide to see your GP it could be good to consciously note how your body is feeling and write down any other symptoms you come across. I wouldn't focus too much on stress with the GP, as some will discount looking into other options once you do so.

Lindtnotlint · 24/01/2022 21:22

Could be thyroid or various other things. Go to your Gp.

MyMoneyIsAllSpent · 25/01/2022 16:44

I would see your GP. Mine has arranged for me to have a blood test, chest x ray and a full body CT scan, just for starters.

TheWeeDonkey · 25/01/2022 16:57

I know you say it was back in August, but I've heard a lot of people say one of the long term side effects is that things taste and smell "wrong", off or just plain disgusting, or lose their appetite. Look up Parasomia. It's not uncommon.
