Anyone ever been?
Any tips on how to get the best out of a day there skiing?
We are skiers but have no idea of temperature when there, what to wear etc

Grateful for any advice.

If your anything other than beginner skiers or going with children it will bore you within minutes. It's a great place for lessons but if you're not going for lessons, it will take you longer to get up the hill than it takes you to get down.

Temperature wise, it's like being at an ice rink. You'll need ski waterproof top and bottoms but I would bother too much with multiple layers underneath.

I wouldn’t bother if you’re skiers already. It’s basically crap.

Need to define skier. I understand that as spending a lot of time in the alps during the winter. Like at least a week a year. So the snow dome isn't for you unless you want to teach a 3 year old

@LittleOverWhelmed

Think that they are good either for a beginner or someone who hasn’t skied for a while and just wants to remember the sensation before they go away on holiday.

You can practice things, even if you are an experienced skier who normally does red / black runs.

Although Milton Keynes and Hemel Hempstead are better. We went a few months ago (I haven’t skied since Feb 2020, although husband and son are both ski racers): it was useful.

Thanks for this. I'm a competent skier but DD needs to find her ski legs before a school ski holiday. She'll be needing to get video footage on the slope if the holiday is cancelled, for her GCSE evidence (PE).

Are helmets compulsory on the slope? Goggles needed ?
Do we need to get there earlier for boot / ski hire?

The indoor slopes all require helmets. You don’t need goggles as the lights are not winter sun strong and there is no wind factor. You should arrive at least 30 mins early as there will be queues this time of year.

MK is probably the best in the country for size. Hemel usually has better snow but it is much smaller.

Overall I would go to MK
