£20

milkysmum · 22/01/2022 18:04

Yep I'd say £20

Ohmycron · 22/01/2022 18:04

Oh that’s good. Was thinking £30

I'd say £30/40 if you were going out to buy something you'd struggle to get anything for much less.

ParkheadParadise · 22/01/2022 18:09

I would say £50 for an evening invitation.

MrsCoxy34 · 22/01/2022 18:11

£30 is about standard but give what you can afford. People who get married are grateful for people's generosity and it's always the thought that counts

FindmeuptheFarawaytree · 22/01/2022 18:11

£20 max, but I'd probably take a bottle or small gift as I don't like being asked for cash. I know lots of people disagree with me though!

MrsPsmalls · 22/01/2022 18:25

More than £20 unless it really is unaffordable. Do you go out anywhere socially? A round at the pub, or dinner out, or even a take away and a bottle of wine are upwards of that. If you have nights out at all then I think you should match that for the wedding couple.

Hairyfriend · 22/01/2022 18:32

If its a couple attending the evening do, I'd normally give £50. Going alone, maybe £25-£30. I'm not British, so the whole evening invite only is a new concept since I moved here, so maybe I see it differently.

Sorry, but if I was attending as a couple and gave £20, I would like a tenner each was an insult!

Hairyfriend · 22/01/2022 18:35
  • think a tenner each, not like!
LittleKitten1 · 22/01/2022 18:43

Is it somewhere nice with an open bar & evening food, if yes £30+

If it's quite a low key thing and drinks not provided £20 is fine.

bananaboats · 22/01/2022 19:33

If say £20-30 is enough for an evening do

burnoutbabe · 22/01/2022 19:41

£20 max

I mean what are they offering? No drinks usually maybe no food (had that many times)

Ohmycron · 22/01/2022 22:43

It’s just me. I’m not a couple (how weird to presume it is!)

Well, you can insult me whenever you like. Wink

How can it be an insult to give someone a present ? Confused

catfunk · 22/01/2022 22:54

If they drink alcohol I'd give a bottle of champagne as I hate giving cash gifts

Rosebuud · 22/01/2022 22:58

It’s a gift, not payment for your food and drink?
burnoutbabe · 22/01/2022 23:00

Yep and £20 is a gift.
