Ball park figure for (adult) birthday party?

Does anyone have any recent (poss stupid question with Covid...), experience of hosting an adult birthday bash and how much it cost?

I'm 60 later this year (the Horror), and I've actually never had a birthday party since I was about 10.

I'd really like to book out a pub, get a DJ, plenty of booze, really nice canapes and bowl food.

So far my guest list is at 86. I may remember a few more people and of course not everyone will come so realistically about 70.

I will of course ask said pub for a quote but I have no real idea of the cost of catering these days.

Ta in advance x

I don't think i have any numbers for you but i didn't want to leave you alone!

Can you get some basic estimates for each of the things you'll need to pay for.

Massive variety of choices (and prices) for food. And venues will vary hugely.

Contact a pub you like and ask them to give you an idea.

If you're looking to book out the whole pub on a weekend you'll need to plan ahead!

Just bumping for you!
No idea but I think it's going to cost a lot, with that many guests .
Just try and get a few quotes from pubs/ caterers/ DJs etc.
Will people be buying their own drinks? With perhaps first drink of the evening on you?
Probably also depends a bit on where you are in country.
I would guess DJ around £200
Room hire £50-100
Drinks and food costs could vary widely depending on what you do.
Goodluck and enjoy your birthday, think it's a great idea, I say this as someone who also hasn't had a birthday party since they were 7 or 8!

Dj is around 200
Hall or room hire anything from free to 200 one of our local sports places is free if they make 200 at the bar. Which is easy if u think about it.
Food Costco for platters.

Thanks both! I suppose I'm vaguely presuming about £30 to £40 a head plus whatever a DJ is these days, but as you say I do need to get a few quotes. I ideally want the pub in the village though as about 55 of the guests are people who live within staggering distance of the pub, so whilst I can get quotes from the nearby town (about 5 miles away), that would involve a lot of taxis.....

Our local pub gave us the room for free for my 50th, but we ordered a buffet from them. Think it was about £8 per head. Didn't have a DJ, just played music from a play list.

Thanks @tiredofthisshit21, that sounds very reasonable!
