How have you ruined your child's life? (Lighthearted)

(Let's keep this lighthearted)

Today I ruined DD's life by giving her the blue bowl when apparently I should've given her the Pooh Bear bowl. Cue a good twenty minutes of screaming. 🙃

How have you ruined your children's lives today? 😂

I put cucumber on her plate this evening.

Do I not know she doesn’t like cucumber anymore?
Since when?
Since Tuesday!!!!

I’m not sure whether I contact social services or whether they have some kind of automatic alert?

SpottyStripyDuvet · 21/01/2022 19:21

I am about to ruin DS's life by suggesting it is time for pyjamas and brushing teeth. Like I do at the same time every single day. He is always incredulous at the idea despite the fact it cannot be a surprise to him.

Houseofvelour · 21/01/2022 19:27

When my 4yo dd was 2, I ruined her life by saying she couldn't ride our horse. She was devastated and sobbed for about an hour. Like I've never seen her so distraught.
We don't have a horse.

Oh reading these are bringing back memories!

I am sure I ruined DDs life in many similar ways when she was younger, but now an older teen I ruin it by expecting her to (get this) tidy up after herself in common spaces, like the kitchen and bathroom.
Apparently I don't have any idea how busy and stressed she is and that she doesn't possibly have time to do something so unreasonable for me Hmm

Madbadandusuallysad · 21/01/2022 19:35

Apparently i ruined her life when I grabbed her to stop her running into road to retrieve her little ball toy. She had snuck it I to her pocket before we left for school. My heart was in my mouth and in my panic I raised my voice at her, as I grabbed her to move her back.
She sobbed her heart out, that was fun trying to explain what had happened to her teachers, who saw her crying and now possible have me on some kind of watch list LOL

allfurcoatnoknickers · 21/01/2022 19:35

I would not allow DS (2.5) to ride his bouncy unicorn down the stairs, or take the dogs (Jack Russells) to nursery. I am the WORST.

Okbye · 21/01/2022 19:39

Ruined my 8yo sons life today by insisting he wear a vest under his school uniform since they’re leaving the windows open and it’s about 2 degrees.

THE HORROR THAT ENSUED!!

TheCanyon · 21/01/2022 19:57

I bought dd13 a new bed. A beautiful solid wood bed that doesn't squeak if she so much as breathes. She says she hates it. Probably because it doesn't make a shit ton of noise and keep me awake at night Grin

Moonflower12 · 21/01/2022 20:02

I ruined DD's life today by not letting her go to her friend's house after school. The friend who hadn't asked his mum if she could come back.

How awful of you 😂

I have 3 teens
I exist.
It is really bad I exist when their friends are around. Especially new ones.
The rest of the time they quite like me!

Littlewhiteballs · 22/01/2022 14:05

Because I made him leave soft play so the staff could close up. He walked up to a young girl who was hoovering the floor and roared, actually roared, at her. Then slumped on the floor and played dead. He's lucky he's cute! 😂😂

Mosaic123 · 22/01/2022 14:09

Terrible parents on here.

Hoppinggreen · 22/01/2022 14:12

@YuleiamsaidI

I gave her a sibling 9 years ago
I did that 13 years ago and to compound my sin I gave her a BROTHER
Leslienope · 22/01/2022 14:16

My husband tried to get her dressed after swimming. Worst dad ever.

ohsuzannah · 22/01/2022 14:17

@DoubleYouOhEmAyEn

I've got an unusual hobby that is so embarrassing DD can't have her friends round (can't tell you what it us though because it would contravene MN protocol).
Pole dancing?
Cooper88 · 22/01/2022 14:21

I ruined my 4yo life this week when I collected him from school. He was distraught he couldn't stay overnight. I did say to his teachers it wouldn't bother me but they didn't seem so keen for some reason, I can't possibly imagine what that could be 🤔🤣🤣

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/01/2022 14:25

To counteract the terrible parenting here, I have just won major brownie points. I shared the bubble wrap instead of jumping on it all myself.Halo

oldsoulrebel · 22/01/2022 14:43

According to my 15 Yr old dd I am so extra and embarrassing as there is absolutely no need to reply to the macdonalds drive through worker when the wish me a pleasant day . "You too" was totally cringe and unnecessary apparently

VodkaSodaLime · 22/01/2022 15:30

Because when I picked the child and his friend up from the gym I asked if they had enjoyed themselves. Apparently I too am “proper cringe” no one else’s mum asks their friends questions. I assume I’m supposed to sit there silent like a chauffeur!!! I’m loving the teenage phase! 😂

wishiwasinfiji · 22/01/2022 15:51

I ruin my 10 year old DDs life by making her go to bed and also making her get out of bed on a school day. Also by making her have breakfast every day

I cut her fingernails.
(Shes 2)

JuergenSchwarzwald · 22/01/2022 19:49

Oh you reminded me that I ruined my son's life by cutting his toe nails. You'd have thought I was cutting his skin off.

Houseofvelour · 22/01/2022 20:01

Today my eldest (4) life was ruined because I took her out to meet her friend at the park. She spent the majority of the time ignoring her friend and saying she was going home 🙃
