Injured foot - what to do

Hello, I know obviously a HCP is the best person to ask but was wanting to avoid if I can.

Was running last night and went over on my foot, felt a 'crunch' felt instantly sick with throbbing pain managed to get home fine 15 min walk.

Got up today and absolutely no bruising and very minimal swelling however it is extremely painful, constantly throbbing despite loading up on painkillers. I can weight bare on it and move about. The pain in on the top of the foot radiating to the pinky toe and up to the ankle and on the underside of the foot. There is a feeling of numbness/pins & needles.

So suck it up on the couch elevated or go and get checked out at minor injuries?

Why would you not go to get it checked out?

Beowulfthethird · 21/01/2022 15:07

Of course you must get it checked.

Get it seen at minor injuries or walkin clinic. It may be soft tissue damage or a fracture. Advice is to keep flexing it and try to weight bear.

Daughter did that. Went to a&e me nagging she had torn the ligament and took bone with it. Foot came out in some lovely colours. She was given a boot and it's waiting for physio .
Go get it checked

Still got time for bruising to come out IME.
Get it checked.

Purplewithred · 21/01/2022 15:57

Minor injuries (not a medic).

Sounds sore OP. Others have advised getting it checked out, with much recent experience of A&E with my poor dad (and this is heart attacks, not a saucepan stuck on head situation) and spending 8+ hours waiting to be sorted, I would advise taking sustenance with you, entertainment and a pillow.

emmathedilemma · 21/01/2022 15:59

I'd get it checked at minor injuries.

toppkatz · 21/01/2022 15:59

Go and get it seen to. While you're there, ask them to check for an avulsion fracture. They are easily missed, even by x-ray.

Shapiro · 21/01/2022 16:01

X ray required.

christmaskittenincoming · 21/01/2022 16:19

Oh wow, ok pretty much get it checked out. NHS (Scotland) have a minor injuries service and to call 111 which I will do, still working (from home).

The foot is very cold to touch and feels freezing - dr google not coming up with much for that symptom?

Could be nerve or circulation issues? Definitely get it checked over.

Intothelight123 · 21/01/2022 20:20

Hope you went to get checked out
