Private Nursery Fees

Why are parents/guardians being charged full price when private nurseries close due to staff having covid? It is not the fault of the parents/guardians and contract states you only pay if it is your fault the child cannot attend, Covid is not your fault and you should not be penalised by paying the fees, which in some cases you will pay twice, one for nursery and again for emergency care and it could possibly go on for weeks.

We're not being charged if they close.

Are you paying against the terms of your contract or are you a journalist?

Lazypuppy · 21/01/2022 12:00

We're not, we get a credit on following months bill.

Why are you paying if it’s against the terms of your contract?

We weren’t charged when our nursery closed.

Credit here too.
We pay in advance and I understand they can't easily give money back. What else would they do?

Looneytune253 · 21/01/2022 12:03

They can't legally charge if they're closed. Though to be fair most nurseries are on a shoestring so it may be the end of them when they can't. It's such a shame as it's also not their fault but I do agree with you they shouldn't be charging

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 21/01/2022 12:05

We’re not charged for that. Currently have a child off nursery with covid and I’m not being charged for their absence either.

Hi
I’m due to get 15 hours free funding for my daughter after Easter. However I have just been told by the nursery that the funding goes not cover there fee and I have to pay that. I was not expecting that at all abs was under the assumption that the funding would cover it. Can someone please advise

Venusvaughan77 · 04/02/2022 20:35

Yeah the free hours don't cover all their costs so they usually charge extra, it's normal practice unfortunately
