Will I keep being scammed?

Is there anyone who can answer this as frankly my bank are not helping at all.

I stupidly entered my bank card into a fraudulent clothing website last week- which looked like the real deal. I was buying something for 20.00, they managed to take 80.00. I raised this with my bank, they cancelled the card and redebited the money. All good, and grateful as my mistake.

Now I’ve got a new bank card, had it for a day and not used it anywhere- but this company has managed today to take another 80.00 from my account. I’m so confused as my new bank card is no way identical. I’ve called my bank who have just suggested it I log it as fraud and get another new bank card- which I’ve refused as I’ve only just got one and it’s taken 8 days for that to come.

But my question is- how can I stop them keep taking bank payments if even a change of card doesn’t stop it? It’s not a DD, I’ve checked and they didn’t have account details to do that either.

The young girl at my bank, didn’t know what to suggest but now I’m 80.00 again just before payday and my food shop day! :(

It could be that the company have responded to the £80 chargeback with evidence, and it’s been reversed so the original charge still stands. You’d be best speaking to someone more knowledgable at the bank I think.

Well you need to speak to the fraud team at your bank, it's not okay for the bank to just "not know what to suggest" Confused

If they suggest changing the card again then change the card, otherwise they're not obligated to help you. What seems more likely is that the chargeback the bank instigated for you has been reversed because the company has been able to provide them with proof that the transaction was legitimate.

You need to call the bank.

I'd change my bank of you don't get satisfaction.

As others have said, has the chargeback been reversed? Is this one of those sites that looks like you're getting something lovely at a bargain price, but really you are agreeing to a subscription?

If not; and you've got a new card and not used it anywhere, then they can't be taking card payments - perhaps they've got a continuous payment authority, instead.

Regardless, you'll likely need to accept the new card again, so that you are complying with the banks fraud protocols, and also ask them to investigate how the second payment was taken and block any future ones.

"The young girl at the bank"... did you go in person? You'll get better advice from your bank's fraud phone line; the counter staff won't specialise in this.
