How do I transfer from NHS hospital to private one?

Am currently in hospital being treated for a serious infection

I have to wait for ultrasound which looks like not happening today now: also cancelled yesterday.

I feel guilty taking up a bed when I have private healthcare but it was an urgent admission.

Am I able to transfer to private hospital? And how? I have full cover. I could even drive myself as I’m not particularly ill - not even on painkiller now.

OR would this be disrupting a defined treatment plan and is it really bad manners?

Not sure who to ask.

"Staying with" stupid auto correct. 😂

I'd definitely stay where you are - private hospitals are good with routine / non risky, but the NHS is where you want to be if there's any possibility of complications. If you're on IV antibiotics I'd stay put - private isn't always best, in spite of frustrations over delays.

Turns out I HAVE A DVT which wasn’t considered although I had mentioned it to everybody I met, every doctor I’ve spoke to, I’ve specifically asked everybody about muscle cramps which I’ve had for over a week. That’s two gp appointments, 2 A&E trips.

They think the swelling from the infection put pressure on my veins.

This is irrelevant to my original post but I’ve had this for about 9 days now so I feel totally horrified.

Don’t fuck about if you’re fat with muscle cramps not caused by exercise.

Everybody told me it was inflammation from the infection causing the muscle to cramp.
It wasn’t!

None of the private hospitals where I live do this sort of work. They handle routine, planned surgery. Gall bladder removals, hip replacements, eye surgery, hysterectomies, cosmetic surgery.

Things which can be scheduled well in advance. None have an acute or emergency admission ward, or intensive care departments.

What you could do is see whether there are private rooms in the NHS hospital, your insurance may cover this.

Hope you're on the mend soon.
