Overwhelmed with love..am I weird?

For my grandson.
Honestly, I knew I'd love him, child of my child and all that, but the sheer pleasure that his existence has brought me is a real surprise!

I'm lucky enough to have my DD2 and her dh live in the same town and so I am doing child care for them as I work part time and they are both nurses, I offered because I had no help (due to distance ) when my 4 were tiny and I know how hard it can be. But I wasn't anticipating the sheer joy of it.. having a new little person who knows me, is excited to see me and spends his day happily in my company.
I feel rejuvenated ..we go to yoga together , we are going swimming, we walk the dog and pop to the shops and baby groups, and sometimes we just chill and he lives his baby life (9 months old)

I'm so grateful that his mum and dad trust me after reading so many stories on here (I run any plans past them first ) But I am still bowled over by how much I just love him, how much his smiles and arms lifted for Granny have made me feel like I still have a purpose in life in my 50s.

It's just like the love I had for mine when they were babies...only easier!

I love this!

My mum feels the same I think. She absolutely adores DD, and seeing them together is wonderful. They just want to spend every second with each other when they are together 🥰 Such a special bond for you to have.

My mum feels the same. She said she was bowled over by how much she loved these little people who aren't hers. She loves being around them and they love her to pieces.

I love this. My mum is exactly the same. Its so wonderful to watch and makes me look forward to being a grandparent. She has my children 3 days a week while I work, when I have annual leave I always think oh she must be glad of the break, after 48 hours shes ringing me to bring them over because she misses them!

@StillMedusa This is so so beautiful to read ❤️ I had an amazing relationship with my paternal grandparents growing up - they lived very close to us and I saw them most days. I’m very lucky to still have my darling GF now who adores watching his GGS (age 1 and named after him) run around ❤️

I hoped my parents and in laws would have the same relationship with my DS as I had with my GPs growing up but so far they haven’t shown a huge amount of interest in getting to know him unfortunately 👎🏼 But nevermind - I guess everyone is different 😊
