Shit, what do I want for my birthday?

I'm happy with everything I have when it comes to the usual wishes (handbags, jewellery, perfume, headphones, coffee paraphernalia etc.) and don't need them replacing.

Clothes are awkward as I'm an awkward shape and need to try them on.

I like wine, lifting weights, yoga, reading but haven't read for a while, coffee and definitely prefer 1-2 quality items than lots of stuff.

If I don't let DH know soon, god knows what I'll end up with Blush

Kindle with some book vouchers so you can read more? Assuming you don’t already have one.

Tigerteafor3 · 16/01/2022 22:02

How about some versa grips for weight lifting? Much gentler on your hands.

YorkieTheRabbit · 16/01/2022 22:33

Audible subscription
New purse
Wine subscription
Flower subscription
Good skincare

UnicornPoopsRainbows · 16/01/2022 22:37

Audible would be top of my list if I didn’t pay for it.

Shopping trip with clothes paid for? New yoga clothes?

Shapiro · 16/01/2022 22:37

A pamper afternoon where you can have a choice of massages etc at a spa?

Tsuni · 16/01/2022 22:39

Tell him you don’t want or need anything

coronafiona · 16/01/2022 22:41

Gym clothes or a nespresso machine??

Annabelle69 · 16/01/2022 22:55

@Tsuni

Tell him you don’t want or need anything
THIS. Why do we feel the need to have items we don't want bought for us at all? With all the environmental issues and never ending pointless consumption, why add more things to the pile that you don't need?

Why not just go out for dinner or do an activity you enjoy. Or you could just ask for a donation to your favourite charity.

Hercisback · 16/01/2022 22:57

Go out for a nice meal? Go see a show?

Nothing that results in mindless buying for the sake of it.

TheHoptimist · 16/01/2022 23:03

@coronafiona

Gym clothes or a nespresso machine??
If it has a plug it is a household item and not suitable for a gift

Some great suggestions- definitely letting DH know! Thank you!

Also I'm totally drip feeding but usually I do ask for experiences rather than stuff, but with a mix of the pandemic and now having a 13 month old high octane DS (and no family or similar close by to babysit for a few hours) we are now a little more limited with experience options - but a night away in a new town or city is top of my birthday list!

Cripes, if you can't think of anything, then have nought.
That's what we do now, would rather a nice sum goes to a charity, than frantically think of what I 'want'

Stylewannabee · 17/01/2022 00:50

Something nice from sweaty Betty . A nice hoodie or new leggings that feel good

BarbaraofSeville · 17/01/2022 06:33

Second/thirding not having gifts for the sake of it.

Have your night away, and maybe ask for a nice bottle of wine, something that is more of a treat than what you usually drink if you can't stop physical presents completely.

When mine were that age, some time by myself was what I craved the most. If he goes to nursery, how about a day off when he is at nursery? Breakfast in bed while your DH sorts our your son. Then a walk and a lovely lunch, maybe followed by a manicure. Then pick up DS, have an easy tea w him (I was going to say in a restaurant but that might not be relaxing at his age, depending on him temperament).

Happy birthday!
