Books about emotions for young children?

Can anyone recommend a book suitable for ages 5-8 years that talks about managing emotions and behaviours?

DS is only 5, but is quite emotional astute. He has problems at time managing his frustration and anger, but is quite aware of this. He will often say (for example in relation to not getting angry when screen time ends) "I know that X is wrong and Y is right but I don't know which to choose", or "I can't make the right choice". Or if he does lose control and end up in a temper fit he is remorseful afterwards and calls himself "A horrible little boy" - not something that we ever say to him. He is quite interested when we have talked in calm moments about how our minds work and why people sometimes make unhelpful choices.

Any suggestions for a book that DH and I can read with him, with or without exercises to work through? Or any other resources that will help him and us?

The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas is about identifying and dealing with emotions. There are associated activities/resources as well that you can probably find online (maybe on twinkl?).

Might be a bit too young but mine loves The Big Bad Mood. It has helped her with her difficult times!

Thanks. We have the Colour Monster. He is able to identify and express his emotions really well for his age, so something aimed at the next stage on would be good.

I bought 'Heathy Happy Minds' by A School of Life, and DS is actually quite engaged with listening to it, but it is aimed at older children and some of the themes and sections we are having to skip over as they are just too sophisticated for a 5 yr old- for example being embarrassed by your parents.

There's a series of illustrated children's books about feelings by an author called Trace Moroney that are quite cute.

Tim Percival’s big bright feelings books are great. Ruby’s worry, Ravi’s roar, Meesha makes friends, amongst others

Tom Percival!! Sorry my phone autocorrected.

Have a look at The Zones of Regulation stuff on the internet. It's very good at teaching kids how to deal with the more challenging of emotions. Lots of school use it (ours included) and its really good.

I've also heard good feedback about 'My HIdden Chimp' but not read it myself but will be getting a copy:
