Period not stopping

I had covid in November. And missed a period. I normally bleed for 3-4 days but I have not stopped heavily bleeding for almost 3 weeks .

The main problem is I don't have a gp. As they removed me I have no idea why. I don't have a driving license or passport. I don't get utility bills as my gas and electricity are on prepaid meters. So it's hard to register with a gp. So I'm wondering do I call 1111 and get advice from them. I (think) there are walk in centers but im not 100% on that . But do I need to call 1111 to access them . Or can I just turn up. ?

You really need a GP. Can you ask them why they removed you? Do you have an NHS number? If you were born in the UK they should have a record of who you are!

Contact your local health authority and they will find you a GP.

Do you have a bank account, on benefits or in employment ? You can use this paperwork for ID.

I had this after covid too, and the vaccines. I didn’t see a GP though as it seemed impossible at the time! It’s settled now but I’ve not had a booster yet as I’m thinking I need to wait for a semi convenient time to bleed for a month Hmm

When you bled after covid did it stop on its own?

Read about this in press. It's a thing. Lasts a bit. Google

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 15/01/2022 19:52

Can I ask how old you are.

cannaethink · 15/01/2022 22:01

@Isitschool yes, it stopped itself

QuornSausagesAreTheDevilsPenis · 15/01/2022 22:14

How old are you op? I bled for 6 weeks straight then nothing for 5 months - was the start of menopause (I was 42).

QuornSausagesAreTheDevilsPenis · 15/01/2022 22:15

Way before covid though.

9ofpentangles · 15/01/2022 22:22

Norethisterone can stop it. You can get it from the doctor

9ofpentangles · 15/01/2022 22:23

Maybe 111 or you can buy privately online - eg Superdrug online doctor

Ah I'm 42. But I'm 30 in my head so it can't be menopause 😅. I think it would be a bit of a coincidence to get covid a missed period then longer bleeding after. Could be though I guess

You could be peri menopause at your age, and mucked up periods I’d a symptom.

GoodnightGrandma · 16/01/2022 09:51

*is a symptom

Just a word of warning - when I had this last year it turned out to be a haemorrhage from a ruptured ovarian cyst (endometriotic).

111 advised me to go to A&E and less than 24 hours later I had surgery to remove that ovary and fallopian tube and a massive dermoid from the other one.

I had no idea things were that bad in there up to that point - the only symptom was the bleeding.

I was 43 at the time.

I'd ring 111 today and see what they say.

QuornSausagesAreTheDevilsPenis · 16/01/2022 11:15

In my head I was in my 20s but a recent scan where the sonographer pronounced my ovaries as "shrivelled like raisins" has confirmed that sadly my body is waaay older than that 🙄 😂

Obvs may not be that in your case though op, looking back I had loads of other symptoms that I'd either ignored or put down to other things.

Having read @Cailleach's post though op you should probably talk to 111 in case it is anything more drastic. I did speak to the doctor about mine and she prescribed something to stop the bleeding but by the time I actually got it the bleeding had pretty much stopped.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 16/01/2022 14:38

Ah. U are at the age I was when this happened to me. I started one day and didn’t stop and it lasted for nearly a year! Had a scan and was told everything was okay. It was all just the fun and games of the starting of peri menopause.

They changed my pill. Even then it took nearly six months to stop it. But the new pill worked and I don’t come on anymore.

But here I sit. And wait for the next lovely menopausal thing for my body to do.
