Was this a 'normal' reaction? Shock maybe?

Hi.

Yesterday morning I had a bit of a fall on an icy pavement. I slipped and pretty much fell fully onto my front, hitting the ground with my chin. I managed to get myself up and back into the house (with a bleeding chin) and just felt so shaky and faint that I had to lie down for a bit.
And for the next six hours or so I felt quite weepy about it all and generally a bit fragile. I'm wondering if it was a combination of the impact and shock? Has anyone else had a reaction like this to an accident?

(I'm ok BTW, trip to minor injuries and some glue sorted my cut out and just achy and swollen now. I consider myself lucky that it wasn't a broken bone!)

I had a fall once on the school run. So hurt I just lay on the pavement for a few minutes not moving saying please don't make me get up then someone had to help me to school.
Was in no way seriously hurt (was bruised and limping) but I got home and actually burst into tears and was really shaky
I posted about it somewhere else and they reassured me
I guess it must be normal

Yes shock - I have a bizarre story about shock.

I was decorating and turned a small id table upside down to put in sofa to then cover up. I didn't realise the shelf on the bottom was not secure just resting on metal pegs and it slammed into my fingers. I was fine initially and went to kitchen for ice but then sat down on the floor ans then woke up sprawled in the floor passed out! Then threw up violently and had to go to bed for 12 hours to recover. I think I eventually went to minor injuries for fingers- but I can't remember them being very painfulConfused

Bodies are strange things.

I hope you are ok Thanks

I was just like this after falling off my horse a couple of years ago - I wasn't injured, just very shaken up but couldn't stop crying fromthe shock (also the impact made me wet myself which wasn't nice either!) I hadn't fallen off for years, since I was much younger, and I really felt my age (I was mid 40's)
