Do you struggle with wearing a mask in shops?

I've always struggled with having to wear a mask and feel like I'm suffocating although I'm fully aware that I won't. I get anxiety attacks and my anxiety is based around feeling too hot and not being able to get enough fresh air.

Last couple of weeks have been a real struggle. Anybody else feel like this? I wonder how much longer we're going to have to keep wearing them.

Those who say 'I don't wear a mask', out of interest are you exempt or do you just not want to wear one?

7Worfs · 14/01/2022 17:40

If you are struggling and panicking why do you keep wearing them? Read the exemption list - you are exempt.

No, I do not struggle. Next!

Wouldn't call it a struggle, but yeah a nuisance otherwise -- face sweats, specs fog up, can't hear people, people seem to not hear me clearly, can't see as well.

Moonface123 · 14/01/2022 17:42

Well how do you think the poor shop staff feel ?
At least as customers you are only required to wear them for a short while.

Oblomov22 · 14/01/2022 17:42

Yes, I absolutely hate them. My glasses steam up and I've tried every spray, wipe suggested. I just hate them. Fortunately I haven't needed to wear a mask at work.

7Worfs · 14/01/2022 17:43

Plenty of staff don’t wear masks. Their face, their business.

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 14/01/2022 17:43

No Hmm

Recycledblonde · 14/01/2022 17:44

I hate wearing one, just sweat buckets and my nose runs. I wear one all the time at work and caught covid during the first lockdown whilst wearing one. I avoid shopping as much as possible and just use online as do a lot of people I know.

mathanxiety · 14/01/2022 17:45

Masks are not optional where I live. Millions of people manage to wear them everywhere, including me.

GoodnightGrandma · 14/01/2022 17:46

No.

I don't in shops anymore. I realised how much I'd been struggling when they got rid of them in July so haven't gone back to them. I have to wear them if I leave my work area at work, my manager is insisting on official proof that doesn't exist.
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 14/01/2022 17:51

No it doesn't. I have to wear a mask, visor and PPE all day at work in the NHS and I just have to get on with it. No point moaning all the time.

7Worfs · 14/01/2022 17:52

Your manager is uninformed, and worse, a little totalitarian cunt.
Having grown up in an actual totalitarian regime, I have very little time for its sweeping advancement in the West.

Stroopwaffle5000 · 14/01/2022 17:52

No, but I do get a really itchy nose!

Suzi888 · 14/01/2022 17:54

Yes, if I’m wearing glasses as they steam up ☹️

FindingMeno · 14/01/2022 17:58

I have hearing loss so it makes communication extremely difficult at times. But I wear one and persevere to protect others.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 14/01/2022 18:00

I've not been wearing one and no one has said anything to me.

Enzbear · 14/01/2022 18:01

I don't wear one, they are a waste of time. I have a deaf friend who relies partly on lip reading and she is finding mask wearing a nightmare.
I smiled at a child yesterday who smiled back, that is how things should be imo.

Yes, I agree. I tried saying no official exemption existed in England and I was told that I wasn't exempt then.
MeanderingGently · 14/01/2022 18:05

No, I don't struggle at all, since you ask. I wear a mask when in public and at work, as I want to protect those around me. It would be selfish not to.

Holshicup · 14/01/2022 18:08

I work in retail and have to wear one all day, no problem but a pain with glasses steamed up all the time when trying to work. There is a fortune to be made if anyone can find a solution that works!
Personally I have no issues with customers choosing not to wear one for whatever reason, I may feel differently if I was sharing a home with anyone vulnerable however.

Courcheval · 14/01/2022 18:13

I stopped wearing masks ages ago - I'm triple jabbed. It felt so liberating not to wear masks any more. I've never been asked why, neither has DH.

WhoWants2Know · 14/01/2022 18:18

Nope. I wear them at work and in shops, with glasses and I don't have any issue with it. If anything, I find my asthma is much better outdoors in the winter if I wear them.

SantaClawsServiette · 14/01/2022 18:27

Shops I usually find not too bad, as the time is limited. It's work I find more of a problem. Glasses fogging is an issue, and I also find I get terrible dry mouth and nose.

We've also recently been given new masks at work, they are very thick and tight, and I really find they make me feel awful. Headaches and like it is an effort to breath. If I didn't need the money I might think about taking a leave of absence.
