Every time I'm ill I promise I will turn over a new leaf!

I'm not ill very often so I'm really miserable when I am.
But without fail I make myself promises that when I feel better I will become reborn as a super fit, health food fan.

I've got tonsillitis and I've done an online shop that is full of fruit and veg etc, not a single packet of crisps, chocolate bar
It won't last and the next time I pick up a bug I'll blame the fact I don't do enough exercise or I eat too many crisps.

I wonder if the very fit get fewer minor illnesses than the average?

I have been overweight most of my life and obese for the last decade. I am rarely ill. The only times I have been ill is after having my DC when I was anaemic.

Which leads me onto my next point. If you're diet is vitamin deficient, then this could leave you vulnerable to infection and illnesses etc. So there is no harm in eating healthier and getting your iron levels checked. But it doesn't need to be all or nothing.

No, it's not quite that. I am rarely ill so it's something of a shock when I am.
I just imagine if I was a gym bunny ( does anyone still say that?) I'd be invincible!
Or maybe it's ageing?

I don't like my body letting me down! But then maybe I'm letting it down?

Since starting to take care of myself I have been ill only twice and each time it was only for two to three days.

By taking care of myself I mean taking regular exercise (5 times a week), getting down to a BMI healthy weight, taking regular supplements for things I am naturally deficient in (iron, Vit B, Vit D), eating at least 6 a day, aiming for 10, getting out in nature and avoiding stress as much as possible.

It has made a massive difference to my physical health. My entire family get ill and I don;t. I used to, but I seem to shake off almost everything these days with nothing more than a sniffle or a day of feeling tired.

Look after yourself. It took me far too many decades to actually start doing it. It is so worth it.

Im quite fit. Dont buy chocolate or crisps.

I seem to suffer more than the next person with colds (although ive never had COVID). Fitness and diet will have a bit to do with it, but its defo not the be all and end all.

I agree with @ChiefInspectorParker about germs at the gym. Gyms give me the creeps. Go to outdoor bootcamps, go running or workout at home with your own equipment. Much more hygienic.

I will concede that I routinely go to a crossfit gym where rolling and touching in other peoples sweat is common
