Hearing aid questions

Just a quick post in hers because I need the traffic, for about 5 years now (maybe more) I’ve noticed I have been struggling hearing, it’s got worse over the years, not so much that I can’t hear anything, just find my self struggling to hear and asking to repeat even English people, so it’s not even a language barrier. I thought it was a build up of wax initially but DP has one of them smart bud camera things and no build up of wax so I suspect I will need hearing aids in the future, I always shudder at the prospect of not listening to my music to and from places... I’m 33 so hoping I’ve got a way yet. I was just wondering how people managed if and when they first got hearing aids. I know it’s a daft question but if not having hearing aids in could you still hear or listen with earphones?

DD's latest hearing aids have bluetooth so no headphones required - at least there won't be once I read the instruction booklet and set them up!

This sounds really hard for you. My DP is hearing impaired and can listen to music through her Bluetooth hearing aids. She can also stream stuff to them from an iPad etc so can get zoom calls into them and stuff.

It really is worth getting this checked out as soon as possible. Unaddressed hearing loss can be associated with cognitive decline so it’s better to bite the bullet, difficult though it feels.

Good luck. Flowers

Thank you guys, it’s a relief to know they’ve got Bluetooth, I listen to music due to anxiety so not having it would have caused a whole other load of mental health issues.

I still use in ear and over ear headphones with mine successfully

My mum wears hearing aids since she was early forties, in the 40+ years there was such a change of models and functions, it's unbelievable.

She saves the money and gets a high end one every time, she says rightly so that's her life. and she wants to live it without shortening the enjoyment and pleasures it offers.

No idea about blue tooth, that is out of her experience but the functions and quality of good aids are worth the money.

My dad's function as headphones too, some TVs even can transmit to them, they were a modest cost over the free ones he was offered on nhs
